[edit]The template doesn't include an image. See Dualism. — goethean ॐ 23:26, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've looked at it and Image:Portal.gif appears.--cj | talk 04:00, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- You can specify a different image by using the format {{portalpar|Philosophy|Socrates.png}}. There is a separate philosophy portal template which automatically includes this image, but it's probably better to use the generic portal template. --CBD ☎ ✉ 11:16, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- OK thanks. — goethean ॐ 15:25, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Clickable
[edit]Would anyone mind if I made this template 'clickable'? That is, changed it so that if the user clicked on the image rather than the text link it would still go to the appropriate portal rather than to the image description page. --CBD ☎ ✉ 11:18, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- If you get it to work, please go ahead. I tried to use {{click}} to link the Portal icon to Portal:Browse, but it wouldn't work.--cj | talk 11:40, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I set both portalpar and portal templates to go to the corresponding portal whenever clicked anywhere in the portal link box. I also added the optional image parameter to the main portal template (as I had previously in portalpar). --CBD ☎ ✉ 13:35, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- It seems to work with portalpar, but not with portal (which is where my previous test failed).--cj | talk 15:19, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- What's happening when you try to use 'portal'? It takes me to the portal whose name corresponds to the page viewed - same as the text link. --CBD ☎ ✉ 16:00, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- In both IE and Firefox, {{Portal}} appears without image or text. The link does work, but the template is blank.--cj | talk 16:03, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I just noticed Nicklott has reverted the test (as I was intending to do) because of the glitch.--cj | talk 16:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Ah... I use Firefox, but I use really high resolution / small fonts. Text was fine for me, but I should have checked what it looked like at lower screen resolutions. --CBD ☎ ✉ 16:47, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Large letters
[edit]Why are they there, its creating a significant amount of left whitespace when used. - RoyBoy 800 18:09, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- I made it so just the image is clickable. Should prevent the whitespace problem. --CBD ☎ ✉ 19:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
How-to section
[edit]I've added a How-to section within the template (using <noinclude> of course) which includes the use of an image, I hope you don't mind.--– sampi (talk•contrib•email) 22:44, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Fixed width?
[edit]Copied from here:
- Is it possible to modify Portalpar so that you can control the width of the resulting box? It would look cleaner on March 2006 in Britain and Ireland et al if the boxes had a width of 250px. -- SGBailey 19:37, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
—Simetrical (talk • contribs) 04:02, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Added as parameter 4 / 'boxsize'. Note that 'portalpar' is effectively deprecated and now covered by Template:portal. --CBDunkerson 15:36, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
