Why this thing exists
[edit]Howdy. I just made this template in the hopes that it will provide a bit more clarity and purpose for Northern Canadian articles. As I write this, most of the Northern [Province] articles are in poor shape (Northern British Columbia currently doesn't exist at all, not even as a redirect). Let's shine some light onto the unique, shared history of these regions.
Obviously, this navbox is pretty big, so feel free to make your own changes to it. I especially don't know that much about Northern Quebec. However, this template needs to show a good balance of settlement geography and indigenous geography, so I would really advise against stripping out the treaties and land claims (even if they're more obscure than the cities and towns). The alternative to using these lesser-known articles is listing individual bands and cultural groupings, which is basically unworkable.

- I thought Northern Canada stated the region is comprised of Canada’s three territories and as such I thought this template was incongruent with that article. I am now seeing four unsourced definitions at that article. My view is all the “Other northern regions” content should be trimmed unless reliable sources verify a second delineation of northern Canada beyond the verifiable and commonly understood political region of northern Canada. Otherwise this template is a personal point of view of what is included in northern Canada. Hwy43 (talk) 05:32, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
