Should this be renamed, or ?

[edit]

@Nihiltres: I recently edited this template to change it from linking to Glossary of Lepidopteran terms to Glossary of entomology terms since it seemed to me that readers would be surprised to click on one thing and be sent somewhere else. Also "lepidopteran" unlike "Lepidoptera" is generally lower case. I had thought that this template was probably left over from an earlier time when there had been an article at Glossary of Lepidopteran terms. After I started changing the hundreds of links to something like ":See glossary of Lepidopteran terms for terminology used" to {{Lepidopteran glossary hatnote}} I went back and looked at the history and saw that you had created this template just a few months ago, while the article it links to had been renamed back in 2009, so then I wondered if there was a method to your choice of "Glossary of Lepidopteran terms", or if actually we should rename the template to {{Entomology glossary hatnote}}, or what?

Sorry for the long rambling question. What are your thoughts?  SchreiberBike | ⌨  02:47, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @SchreiberBike: Sure, go ahead. I created this template simply to standardize the hatnotes on pages where it's used, which had previously been using the awful :'' markup instead of something based on Module:Hatnote. I created a template primarily because I found so many identically-phrased nonstandard hatnotes to replace. I didn't actually look at the target page but simply echoed the existing message I was replacing, which most likely dated from before the target page was renamed. {{Nihiltres |talk |edits}} 04:34, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Nihiltres: Thanks, that makes sense. After the renaming goes through (I'm not sure I've ever renamed a template) I'll continue that process using AWB. Keep up the good work.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  05:14, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
