This template should use Template:Time ago to calculate the time, instead of whatever it is using now, as it only shows the time in minutes. This isn't useful if the value is 10000 minutes; how do we know how long ago that was? Gary King (talk) 19:32, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How would we use that? ViperSnake151  Talk  19:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Enter {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} as an argument. Gary King (talk) 21:39, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

REVISIONUSER breaks when the user has a name like mine

[edit]

Can we replace REVISIONUSER with ~~~? Right now the template breaks (gets broken down into a list) anytime I use it. I've had this username for more than five years. I don't wish to change it now. --*Kat* (talk) 05:45, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, because if you use three tildes it does not update the name at all, meaning it works for nobody. Yoenit (talk) 21:07, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alas, this is a MediaWiki software bug. See Template:Last edited by/sandbox for a test edit. – wbm1058 (talk) 03:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@*Kat*: It looks like there are multiple ways to solve the problem with names that start with "*" or ";", see the template-edit-protected request below. You are welcome to test the sandbox against pages where you are the most recent editor. You haven't edited in awhile, so you might not see this unless you've asked Wikipedia to email you notifications.
@*Treker: you might be interested as well. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:19, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template edit request to work around issue in T166946 noted above

[edit]

Please review the sandbox diff here. It wraps calls to {{REVISIONUSER}} with {{#invoke:String2|nowiki|...}} in four places so it looks like {{#invoke:String2|nowiki|{{REVISIONUSER}}}}.

With this change, pages which were last modified by users whose names start with * work properly with this template. Well, I assume they do, but I can't test it directly. You may need to have it "go live" to test, or have a user whose name starts with * create a page that includes Template:Last edited by/sandbox that you can test against.

The wrapper code above can be seen working properly at the documentation page of Template:REVISIONUSER (doc).

I'm not sure if it will be the case when someone sees this, but as of a few minutes ago, Draft:List of sex symbols was last edited by *Treker. That page uses this template by way of {{draft}}. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:05, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 8 May 2021

[edit]

Almost all of the mainspace uses of this template are in through Template:Under construction. The small tags in this template are applied twice when used there, which brings the (Update timer) display below MOS:SMALL recommendation of 85% text size. In the sandbox, I have removed the small tags. (diff) I think this change should be fairly uncontroversial. — Goszei (talk) 21:31, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Last edited timer off

[edit]

Looking at Template:Newspaper of record, the {{Draft template}} there employs {{last edited by}} to render this message:

  • This template was last edited by Sdkb (talk | contribs) 92 minutes ago. (Update timer)

however the last edit there was on 18 October. So something is off somewhere. Adding Sdkb. Mathglot (talk) 22:14, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I purged the cache (clicked the "update timer" button) and it fixed itself, so just a caching issue. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 22:25, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
