Dimadick

[edit]

@Dimadick: please provide rationale on why you think this page should be included in WikiProject Science fiction. --Izno (talk) 11:25, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because parent category Inspector Gadget is a subcategory of Category:Cyborgs in fiction, which is a subcategory of Science fiction themes. Dimadick (talk) 11:27, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And if I removed the parent category per WP:CAT#T, what then? Also, that is, at-best, a stretch to include a template in that WikiProject. --Izno (talk) 11:41, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Are you joking? Have you ever seen Inspector Gadget (1983 TV series), which is all about cyborg adventures and high-tech gadgets? Dimadick (talk) 16:52, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on content, not contributor. Do those things define science fiction? I find no mention in that article about the seriesm being a science fiction work. That he is a cyborg certainly does not imply science fiction. Even if it did, are you a participant in the WikiProject? Would they agree that this template should be categorized in their set of articles of interest? --Izno (talk) 20:32, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

They have included and rated the films based on the series. Dimadick (talk) 05:05, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you added the template in the case of Talk:Inspector Gadget (film) and at Talk:Inspector Gadget 2. "They" have not included the film, you have. I ask again, since you did not answer the first time: Are you a WP SF participant? --Izno (talk) 12:02, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you figured out by checking my talk page. I am a participant in no WikiProject, though I edit and tag-several science fiction-related articles. As far as I know, Wikipedia:WikiProject Science Fiction has very few active members. The one I am more familiar with, is User:Fixuture, who has been doing most of the ratings.

Though I tagged the article Inspector Gadget (film) for the WikiProject, I am actually not the one who decided this is a science fiction film. It has been included in category 1990s science fiction films since at least 2010. Check the article history. Last year, I added tags to several films which were part of the science-fiction categories or lists but were never rated by the Project.

I am also not a participant in Wikipedia:WikiProject Film, though I have been working on film articles and categories for several years. Dimadick (talk) 14:54, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Books

[edit]

Would it be possible for us to have a section dedicated to books? There's some overview of this at Inspector_Gadget_(franchise)#Books but it hasn't been elaborated on much.

I don't know if any individual books would warrant an article (how many copies need to be sold? or is it based on how much media coverage it gets?) but a series might, if say, the same author did several or they were numbered in a sequence.

The 2011 Viper Comics series compiled into "Gadget on the Orient Express" is pretty interesting but there's other stuff he's made guest appearances in like holiday specials. Ranze (talk) 18:03, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
