Parameter Removal

I was thinking about removing the following parameters as they don't seem to be used or really needed in the infobox:

  • addresses (the location parameter covers this better)
  • client
  • current_tenants
  • sector
  • category
  • main_contractor
  • cost

It's not really documented what should be put into each parameter either, although I've made a start of adding some documentation. Any thoughts from anyone? -- WOSlinker (talk) 21:13, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

There's now a version in the sandbox and also a testcase to show the changes, which also include some additional parameters. -- WOSlinker (talk) 17:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm not a member of the streets project, and I don't edit articles on street articles except to remove inappropriate tags or templates from them. I do think that the contractor/cost parameters could be useful for the streets project to indicate construction costs and buildings. The highways projects wouldn't have use for that in the infobox though. Addressing would be useful to indicate address ranges and such, which is localized to a specific street in a specific city. Tenants could be useful for streets that are famous for a connection to an industry. Rodeo Drive's infobox could summarize some of the famous retailers along the street. Once again, these are situations not applicable to highway articles, which is why they don't exist ing {{infobox road}}, but they would be appropriate here. Imzadi 1979  20:11, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

New parameters

Regarding the recently added new parameters, I wonder if some of the news uses for this template might be better off using {{infobox road junction}} since in many cases, squares or circles are formed by the intersection of other streets. Otherwise, some of these cases appear to be parks. I'm just thinking out loud here, so I'll let others decide what may be the best course of action, but it seems like an infobox designed for streets is being using for non-street articles. yes, we should not use this template for non-streets. Frietjes (talk) 19:30, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
No. Many squares are not road junctions, and not parks. They are though, just like streets, thoroughfares: effectively, streets whose breadth is similar to their length. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:35, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
Can the allocation parameter used in {{Infobox road}} be implemented in this template? Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 01:55, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
