What about adding the key signature?

[edit]

What about adding the key signature of a song? Abhiramakella (talk) 14:54, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Abhiramakella: I think this would be impossible to do – many songs change key throughout the song, and in addition, different versions of the song are often in different keys. Richard3120 (talk) 01:00, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove unused capitalized aliases

[edit]

|Released=, |Type=, |Artist= – these aliases are no longer used anywhere[1] and are not needed in the code. Solidest (talk) 04:04, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Those braces are pretty nested, and the template has many parameter checks, so let me know if I missed anything. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:45, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New parametre - Single

[edit]

As not all song are from albums, I think "single" should be applied when there is no corresponding album. For example, Bubble Gum by NewJeans corresponds with the single How Sweet, not the album How Sweet, as there is no album by that name. ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 14:22, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can already do that by entering "single" in |type=. Richard3120 (talk) 21:16, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard3120: That's different. It currently reads "Single by NewJeans from the album How Sweet", which implies there is an album called "How Sweet", which isn't true. I'd like it to be ""Song by NewJeans from the single How Sweet", as that is more accurate. ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 08:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I would just blank |album= and change |type= to "single"... I don't agree with the description of "Bubble Gum" as the B-side to "How Sweet" anyway, because they appear to be two songs on a single album, with equal billing for both songs. Richard3120 (talk) 21:46, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Uncredited producer

[edit]

If a song has no credited producer, should something be placed in the producer box? I feel like putting something like "uncredited" or "unknown" would make it clear that there genuinely is no producer credit, as opposed to an editor simply forgetting to put the producer credit in when making the infobox. Off the top of my head, I know Take a Knee, My Ass (I Won't Take a Knee) and All Cried Out (Kree Harrison song) did not have producer credits, and both currently use "unknown" in that field. Edit Request 4 September 2024

[edit]

I think this template should have an “included on” for a second album as so singles won’t get confused as being a single from an album the song wasn’t released as a single from. For example, Soon (LeAnn Rimes song) is a song that was released as a single, however there are no sources saying the song was released as a single from the album that it has appeared on so instead of the infobox saying “Single by LeAnn Rimes from the album I Need You” there should be a second album option for it to say “Single by LeAnn Rimes included on the album I Need You” because the word from makes it sound like it’s a single from the album even though there is no such source claiming that. It would also give other songs such as Can't Fight the Moonlight to say it’s a single from the soundtrack for Coyote Ugly and included on the album I Need You. It’s just a way to fix the grammar so people don’t accidentally think that songs are singles from two different albums when they may only be a single from one album. 2600:1015:B13F:BED:B4CF:66FB:DC8:1764 (talk) 10:39, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:41, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
