About this template

[edit]

This infobox template is loosely based on Template:Infobox Sports league and Template:MiLB infobox. It can be used for any article about a roller derby league. It provides a consistent space for the league's logo and a summary of the league's basic details.

If you have suggestions for improving it, or questions or concerns, please post here (start a new section at the bottom). —mjb (talk) 01:13, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
  1. Find a logo to upload. Leagues often make them available in their MySpace picture galleries, or on photo hosting services like flickr or PhotoBucket. Save the image you want to your computer.
  2. Edit the image (see WP:PIFU) so that its size is 200 pixels wide, in order to match the size required by the infobox and to comply with WP:NFC. The format should be a raster format like JPEG, PNG, or GIF; since it's not free content, it can't be SVG.
  3. Click on the "Upload file" link that can be found in the toolbox section of the sidebar of most Wikipedia pages.
  4. Choose the type of image content: "The logo of an organization" is the one you want.
  5. Scroll down and click on the "Source filename" box. Choose the file you want to upload.
  6. Change the "Destination filename" to something short yet descriptive, and that starts with a capital letter, like "XYZ Rollers logo.jpg".
  7. In the Summary box, you need to modify two things: (1) After "Article=", enter the name of the article you're going to be using the image in, like "XYZ Rollers". (2) After "Source=", paste in the URL of the page the image originally appeared on, or some brief text saying where you got the file.
  8. In the Licensing drop-down, choose "Logo".
  9. Click the "Upload file" button.

If you're successful, it'll show you the page for the image you submitted. The title will be something like "Image:XYZ Rollers.jpg". You can now use this file on Wikipedia; e.g., in the roller derby league infobox, you can enter "XYZ Rollers.jpg" in the logo field. —mjb (talk) 01:13, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

logo caption

[edit]

|logo_caption= does not display or cause an error. |caption= does display. Neither is documented. Frietjes? Found this at Charlotte Roller Derby. MB 17:42, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
