Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because it was created as a demonstration for a potential merger (see Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2012 January 27) --Frietjes (talk) 17:54, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

best_drama serial (sic)

[edit]

I have removed |best_drama serial= again. first, |best_drama_series= is not the same as |best_drama serial=. second, the rationale was "merged from Logie (television) award", but Logie Awards of 2013 has no drama serial category. third, there is already a |free_award= and |free_award_type= for single use parameters. fourth, if it is to be used in 1st Hum Awards, then again it is not needed, since there is no 'top' award, and the fact that Shehr-e-Zaat won three awards is already covered in the infobox. Frietjes (talk) 19:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the UK, at least, for TV and combined TV and film awards, best drama (whether series or serial) is a key award. |free_award= parameters are harmful to data granularity and the meaningful extraction of data from infoboxes. The field should be restored. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:03, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
still waiting for a place where it will be used. Frietjes (talk) 20:22, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
1st Hum Awards. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:19, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
there is no single top award as I explained above. Frietjes (talk) 14:23, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Next and Last

[edit]

Some film awards does not use number of the ceremony, but use the year of occurrence. Like ABC Awards 2014 not 5th ABC Awards. In such case the Next and Last fields does not work. I think this infobox should be modified to handle these cases, by including LastYear and NextYear fields. --SlowPhoton (talk) 15:23, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

no need for new fields, just use |last=[[ABC Awards 2011|2011]] or |last_link= or whatever. I fixed the documentation here. Frietjes (talk) 22:11, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New drama parameter proposal

[edit]

i want you to add one more Parameter in Infobox film awards which is: best_drama_serial_popular, could you please add this parameter, as it is necessary for description in 2nd Hum Awards. You can visit this page for further description, but, it is important to mention this parameter in Template box of film Awards. And one more could you change the previous parameter best_drama_serial to best_drama_serial_jury. Please i am waiting for your action. Fushan talk to Faizan July 08, 2014, 20:36(UTC)

I've copied the above from my talk page, so see what others think. Can we find a better name for this parameter? How should it be labelled? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:08, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Andy Mabbett, actually in this Awarding Ceremony there are two type of Categories, Viewers and Jury Choice, Since both categories has Best Drama Serial Category, one is awarded by Jury and one is awarded on the basis of Public voting. So one should be labelled Best Drama serial Jury and other should be Best Drama Serial Popular. There is need of only one Parameter which is Best Drama Serial Popular and other just needed the addition of Jury means Best Drama Serial Jury. Fushan talk to Faizan July 08, 2014, 22:41 (UTC)

Question regarding fields

[edit]
{{{number}}}th {{{award}}}
Best Drama Serialfoo
Best Drama Serial Popularbar
  • What does the "Organizer" field represent? I checked to see if maybe the 87th Academy Awards has it but its not used there. Is that supposed to be the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (in the Academy example)? or something else?
  • The description for |award_link= says "Article describing the award", however |award= also links to the award article. Is this a link for a page regarding the actual award (item) or a redundant field?
  • I've noticed that in the code there are more fields that are listed than in the documentation. Is that on purpose? (the 87th Academy Awards for example has a Pre-show field).
  • Regarding the |preshow= field, I'm assuming from looking over the Academy Awards pages that it's for pre-show hosts. "Pre-show" by itself isn't a very descriptive title. Can this be changed to Pre-show host(s)?
  • "Host" is also only in plural. Can this be changed to "Host(s)"? Gonnym (talk) 21:35, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are |best_picture_link=, |best_film_link=, |best_direction_film=, |best_actor_link= and |best_actress_link= needed? Is it not recommended just linking to the article in the regular non-"_link" field? --Gonnym (talk) 22:31, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • After looking over the fields it seems |award_org= |presenting_org= and |organizer= might be the same, with |presenting_org= having the better wording - "Presented by" (compared to "Awarded by" and "Organizer"). Also, seems |date= and |presented_date= are for the same thing. --Gonnym (talk) 10:12, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • If the categories are not going to get any bigger then we have 109 articles that use |organizer=, 68 articles that use |presenting_org= and 46 that use |award_org=. Both |organizer= and |presenting_org= are for the orginization presetng the awards, while |award_org= is for a specific individual presenting them. I'm really not sure |award_org= is needed as most (almost all) awards have numerous people giving different awards in each ceremony. Also not sure what "Best Book", "Best Critic" and "award_link" are. --Gonnym (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • |best_drama_serial= won't appear if |best_drama_serial_popular= is also entered. Not sure if this is an issue or not, but from their name they don't seem to appear to be the same award. Might be a bug? |viewership= and |ratings= is one preferred over the other? --Gonnym (talk) 14:22, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Another question, shouldn't this template be merged with {{Infobox award}}? It seems this template is used only (or mostly) in ceremony pages, while {{Infobox award}} is used for the main award page and award category pages. It also has most of the same fields except some of the specific category ones (which can either be merged or converted to use one of the 5 free award types).--Gonnym (talk) 19:56, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed changes

[edit]

Organizerand Presenting_org

[edit]

Regarding |organizer= and |presenting_org=, I much prefer the label of the |presenting_org=, "Presented by", compared to "Organizer" and also its location in the template (at the top, compared to at the bottom). --Gonnym (talk) 13:48, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Date Presented_date

[edit]

Regarding |date= and |presented_date=, I prefer the label of |presented_date=, "Presented on", compared to "Date". --Gonnym (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Preshow

[edit]

Change the table to "Pre-show host(s), as "Pre-show" does not make it clear what this field is. --Gonnym (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Plural fields

[edit]

Change "Host", "Producer" and "Director" plural friendlier form "Host(s)", "Producer(s)" and "Director(s)" --Gonnym (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lifetime achievement

[edit]

Move |lifetime_achievement= to the bottom above "Gold award". --Gonnym (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Best British

[edit]

This should be name changed to best_british_film as that's what it actually is. Pretty sure this bad naming is my doing when I first began. --Gonnym (talk) 15:28, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure on how many non-BAFTA-related pages this template is used, but the BAFTAs call that award Outstanding British Film. The parameter name, and in particular the label given to it, ought to properly reflect the award's title. If there's cause to have a distinct "Best British Film" parameter for other ceremonies, perhaps a new parameter could be created for Outstanding British Film, for use on BAFTA pages. —Hugh (talk) 03:04, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Looks like two fields, award and award_link, are not working the way they are expected to. Take a look at 1st National Film Awards. The infobox has both the links, however only only award link appears at the bottom panel and not desired link. In this case, award is a disamb page which should be a label and award_link should be a link to the desired page. - Vivvt (Talk) 17:46, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Change "Preshow host(s)" to "Preshow hosts" and add "Preshow host"

[edit]

Because I think "(s)" is unnecessary. Add "Preshow host" instead. Hddty. (talk) 14:17, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Globes

[edit]

So at the moment the pages for the Golden Globe Awards do not have a template. They use a horrendous hard-coded thing. I was going to make a custom template but seems silly since so much of it will be the same as this template. There are a few things that need to be added though. Just wanted to make sure that there aren't any objections. :-) --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:07, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

After looking into this some more, looks like it would need a pretty sizeable refactor due to the fact that the Golden Globes separate out Drama from Comedy/Musical. @Grapesoda22 and Frietjes: as recent contributors... Any thoughts or preference? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:25, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Zackmann08: If the changes to this template would be "sizeable" it might be better to just make a separate template. Grapesoda22 () 03:15, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Grapesoda22: it looks like User:Frietjes took care of it already. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:40, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have been modifying some articles relating to the now-defunct Stinkers Bad Movie Awards, but the "Film Awards" infobox hasn't been accommodated, as it displays "Worst Film" as "Best Film", when clearly that wasn't the case of the Stinkers to begin with. After some trial and error, I think I've found the code I would like you to include:

| Stinkers Bad Movie Awards = {{#switch:{{{label}}}
  | Worst Picture
  | Best Picture = Worst Picture
  | Worst Film
  | Best Film = Worst Film
  | #default = {{{label}}}
}}

To keep things alphabetical, this section should be placed underneath the code for the "[Golden] Satellite Awards". Please, and thank you! --The-Psychid (talk) 05:21, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@The-Psychid:  Done. This is certainly easier than using |free_award= and |free_award_type= every time. TGHL ↗ 🍁 21:02, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that. Although I'm wondering if the section should be changed to "Worst Picture", as opposed to "Worst Film", to keep things consistent. (I know for certain that for the Golden Raspberry Awards, the top part always says "Worst Picture", as opposed to "Worst Film". Fret not, for this should be the last time I bother you with this little nitpick. --The-Psychid (talk) 01:59, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
