new name?

[edit]

I can imagine the name of this template is a bit cryptic for users who don't speak German (the German word "Quelle" means source). Besides, this template is not only used for German language sources. Shouldn't we rename this template to something that is more widely understood, like {{GeoSource}} or {{cite geo}}? Markussep Talk 14:04, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a problem with that as long as when we import Template:GeoQuelle from de.wiki, it redirects to the new name and works. I don't even mind if it is then automatically substituted. I guess I favour GeoSource. Bermicourt (talk) 15:50, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The template will still accept calls of Template:GeoQuelle after it has been moved to a new name, GeoQuelle will be a redirect. BTW I think we need a better name for {{GeoQuelle/Lang}} as well, I can't tell from the word "Lang" that this is actually the list of references used by the template. I suggest {{GeoSource/list}}. I have added a check to the template: articles quoting unsupported sources are added to Category:Geography articles needing attention (we could also create a dedicated maintenance category). DE-BW:HVZ and DE:BFN-SB were not supported yet, so I added them. I guess we should check the external links every now and then, they change pretty often. That all makes sense to me. Bermicourt (talk) 20:40, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
