Hide rows on table
[edit]Is this a feature? If I continue to add more rows to the OBSD section it will eventually become unreasonably large, given then a new release arrives every c.6 months. If I could hide say, 5.7-6.0 then it would be more palatable and less of a burden on the Firefox article. Paianni (talk) 09:50, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
A problem about DBSD
[edit]DBSD hasn't updated Firefox, so we should see FF58.0.2 as "old version", or "older version, still supported"? (Stone.User talk:Stone) 01:40, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
- The 'official' DBSD port will probably never be updated on 5.2, right now 58.0.2 is highlighted with the 'old version' colour and once the OBSD project makes the leap to 60.0 (and 52.8.0esr), I propose that 52.7.3esr will adopt the same formatting and DBSD 5.2 content will be condensed into a single row. Dilemma
[edit]The current rows of data do not accurately reflect the versions of Firefox that OpenBSD-stable and Dragonfly BSD users in particular have access to with little effort, however including such information would fall foul of WP:NOR. Backports made by ports developers were made for the convenience of end users and had no greater guarantees than the end user would have editing the original makefile for their release. Below is a section I was targeting for a note to add to the template:
; Notes
- Updates to Firefox ESR releases with a version packaged on stable releases of some operating systems can be installed by editing the 'MOZILLA_VERSION' variable in the makefile with the corresponding version number, in cases where changes to the ports tree makefile are not backported to the respective releases. End users of OpenBSD 6.2-stable could therefore maintain a Firefox 45 ESR installation through the lifecycle of this product by editing one line of code between updates. This method is also liable on mainstream versions, however the faster development cycle increases the risk of breakages and may be less dependable. This is not reflected in the table.

FBSD link forbidden.
[edit]It's forbidden to link to FBSD package list, so we cannot confirm the latest version of Firefox on FBSD anymore. Ryan200107280728 (talk) 14:47, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
