This page should be included in Category:Non-free use rationale templates. Everyme 08:33, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Or alternatively, there should be an explanatory link at that category that links to Category:Image deletion templates. Everyme 08:37, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not done — Why would it belong in that category? The category isn't for deletion templates, but fair use rationale templates. - Rjd0060 (talk) 14:31, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Images uploaded before July 13, 2006
[edit]The current template isn't respecting the official policy established over at Wikipedia:Non-free content which states that "[f]or a file in use in an article that was uploaded before 13 July 2006, the 48-hour period is extended to seven days." There needs to be a way to mark that the file will be deleted in seven days as opposed to two days following when the tag was appended. — Io Katai ᵀᵃˡᵏ 13:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Bottom line.
[edit]In most cases, the bottom line is that images tagged under this criterion are just missing a fair-use rationale. The current wording does not dig to the bottom line. Consider something like this instead. It may not be perfect, but there are definitely better options than the current version.
This file is claimed to be used under Wikipedia's policy for non-free content but does not provide a detailed fair-use rationale. A boilerplate copyright tag is not sufficient on its own. Unless at least one rationale is provided, the file will be deleted seven days after this template was added. Please remove this template if a rationale is provided.Note that this image will be removed from pages which do not have a rationale provided in the page description. Administrators: delete this file. Usage: {{di-no fair use rationale|date=27 December 2024}} Notify the uploader with: {{subst:di-no fair use rationale-notice|1=Di-no non-free use rationale}} ~~~~Add the following to the image captions: {{Deletable file-caption||I6}} |

Why
[edit]Why are we allowing this tag to be used when a text rationale is in place. I have been having dozens of images tagged for deletion when a text based rational is already in place. Are we allowing deletion because they do not have the new rationale template? Will we deletes all the images with the new rationale template when a newer template is established? Why aren't we just replacing the text-based rationales with the template instead of deletion. Upgrading is a much better way to proceed than deletion. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 14:57, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
