System Templates
[edit]I have questions: Is there a list of System Templates, such as the one that makes up this template? Is there a Staticdate, such as the one used in the default signature?
An example of what I mean by "System Templates" is the title of an article, in this case "Currentdate" something like {{TITLE}}
- Figured it out two days later. Wikimedia Meta Help Magic Words in case anyone else has the same problem.
- Thinking about creating a Category.

Category rename
[edit]Could the category Category:Date computing template based on current time be changed to Category:Date-computing templates based on current time as part of a speedy category rename (see here). Thanks.--Rudjek 19:00, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Bad format
[edit]Why is there no comma between the day-of-month and the year? --Gerry Ashton (talk) 17:06, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Please add a comma between {{CURRENTDAYNAME}}
and {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}

- Not done for now:. I'm not convinced a comma is necessary or correct where you are proposing it. What do other people think? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:09, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
name reads 'DATE' but template dispays time as well
[edit]Is it normal for a template named "currentDATE" to display current TIME as well? I expect it to display just date, as the name states. If i wished to display both date and time, i would consider typing something like {{CURRENTDATETIME}} or {{NOW}}. — Vano 19:49, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Vano. As a temporary workaround, I suggest {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}} to produce the current date in American English (29 November 2024), or {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}} to produce the current date in British English (November 29, 2024). Is there any way to get this template to use DMY dates?
[edit]Most of the world's population uses DMY dates, not MDY dates, so is there any way of getting this template to take this into account?
- I fully agree. A
|dmy=yes
option would be useful. Best wishes. RobbieIanMorrison (talk) 09:01, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Is there no short-format YYYY-MM-DD template?
[edit]The MediaWiki version of this, {{mw:CURRENTDATE}}
, returns the current date in YYYY-MM-DD format, making it extremely useful for passing into anything that expects unambiguous dates. But not only does this template not do that, here, I can't seem to find any template that does it.
(Yes, obviously I can just use {{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY2}}
instead, and in fact that's the entire source of {{mw:CURRENTDATE}}
. But half the point of templates is convenient reuse. ...The other half is customizability.)
I can create a new template, but first I wanted to check: Am I missing something? FeRDNYC (talk) 08:46, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
