National elections

[edit]

@Number 57: What is the purpose of having an elections template if it doesn't list all the elections that were held in a territory?

Which templates do not do this?

The ones you're listing aren't for this territory though, they were for the Netherlands Antilles and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. These both have their own templates, which are linked to from this template, so there's no need to list them again here. Have a look at {{Martiniquean elections}}, {{French Guianan elections}}, {{Guadeloupean elections}}) etc. and you'll see they don't list the French national elections. There are some exceptions to this, but this is where there are separate articles or sections about the results in the territories in question. Cheers, Number 57 18:58, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That isn't the case for the {{Anguillan elections}} template? It has elections for the West Indies Federation, and the St Nevis-Kitts-Anguilla combine in it as well. Furthermore, this isn't a real comparison - French overseas territories have participated in national elections for decades. This isn't the case with the BES islands, which have only participated twice. --RaviC (talk) 19:11, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The Anguillan template isn't a real comparison as the 1958 West Indian election was a one-off and doesn't have its own template (there wouldn't be any point in one either); it's there because there's nowhere else to put it; the French templates are far more relevant here – the number of times they have had the elections isn't really a valid point for dismissal.
