filling the gaps
[edit]Ok, not sure why this became my latest project but all the gaps in this template were annoying me, so I did some digging to try and fill them:
2008 was actually Stephen Crainey ref
2009 was Paul Rachubka ref (the source for Rachubka winning in 2008 was an article on the Leeds United website in 2011 so understandable they might have got it wrong by a year)
2010 was Charlie Adam ref
2011 was Ian Evett ref
2012 was Alex Baptiste ref
After that everything appears right (I'm struggling to find winners in 2015 & 2016 - Blackpool were relegated in both seasons so I suspect there wasn't one) until 2023 where once again Blackpool were relegated and I don't think there was a winner? This article from the awards night lists Lavery as 'PFA Community Player of the Season' but I believe that is a different award (there is a similarly named award in 2022 and 2021, and this appears to be Lavery's nomination)
Pinging @Wxmdrgn who added Lavery as winner in 2023 to see if you have maybe seen something I haven't?
now the only annoying gap is 2006 although the further back you go the harder it gets!
if anyone knows any other clubs with annoying gaps let me know and I'll take a stab at them too. Cheers Nonleagueapps (talk) 15:19, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- also pinging @EchetusXe as a previous contributor (see above) but also, in trying to fill the 2006 gap I've stumbled across a couple of edits from 2011 where it appears Peter Clarke tries to claim the 2006 award for himself, before you have subsequently dialled it back to some other awards which aren't necessarily the POTY award itself. You even provided a reference although this is long since dead and I've struggled to revive it.
- Judging by how you've phrased the 2006 win as oppose to the 2005 win I'm guessing Clarke didn't win the actual POTY award that year? Was there a winner? What is the Alan Lowis Memorial Trophy? (The POTY award seems to be called the John Schofield Memorial Trophy in subsequent years but I haven't come across the Alan Lowis Memorial Trophy).
- Don't worry, I'm not expecting you to remember anything about an edit from 12 years ago (I wasn't even on Wikipedia back then!) but I have given up on 2006 and I thought if anyone knows, it might be you – no worries if not!

- Sorry I haven't a clue. It looks like you've put in as much research as can be done. I think if I had found a source to say that someone wont he award in 2006 I would have added it to the template. EchetusXe 01:08, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Cheers, I have updated the template with the missing years. Apologies for dragging you into this based on an edit from 12 years ago! Nonleagueapps (talk) 11:31, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
