Current Season
[edit]I'd like to request to include a link to the current season. Maybe could change Seasons to "Past seasons" and include a "Current season". Thanks. --ClaudioMB 03:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Since anyone is interested in discuss that, I'll make the change. --ClaudioMB 23:59, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, managed to miss this - in my opinion giving the current season is pandering to recentism and goes against the principle of only including top-level articles, i.e. all members of this box should be in a top-level category about the club Category:Arsenal F.C. (or Category:Arsenal L.F.C. in one case). Qwghlm 08:39, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
First, what do you mean by "top-level articles"?
Second, Arsenal F.C. 2007-08 is in Category:Arsenal F.C. seasons, a sub of Category:Arsenal F.C.
Third, if you consider include just a link to the current season recentism, what about the below information in the article itself:
- in the infobox there is current: ground, stadium capacity, chairman, manager, league; and last season position;
- Arsenal_F.C.#Current_squad;
- Arsenal_F.C.#Players_out_on_loan;
*Arsenal_F.C.#Reserves(It's no recentism)--ClaudioMB 23:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
So, as long there is so much recentism in the main article, I don't see any problem a link to the current season. Regards. --ClaudioMB 18:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- P.S.: Qwghlm, I appreciate you work to keep this template as good as possible, but in this case, your arguments sound just like bias against Arsenal F.C. 2007-08 article. If I wrong, please, explain better your point, then I could understand it and agree with you. Best regards.--ClaudioMB 18:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- As I explained above, top-level articles are those that occupy categories Category:Arsenal F.C. or Category:Arsenal L.F.C., which the season article isn't - it is in a sub-category. As for recentism - arguing against biasing things towards recent history, is not the same as saying all recent content should be excluded. It is a question of balance. In this case - if the 2007-08 season is so important for inclusion in this template, why not the 1912-13 season, or the 1951-52 season as well? Qwghlm 21:39, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
:::First, I didn't see any discussion or rule that doesn't allowed a no top-level article to be in this or any other template. If I'm missing something, please, clarify. Second, is there any problem Arsenal F.C. 2007-08 be part of the top-level article? Third, the reason to have the current season on this template is the same reason in the Arsenal F.C. article there is Current squad and other current information (highly interest but readers), and we should keep consistency (no consistency means bias). Regards --ClaudioMB 23:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- First, I didn't see any prior discussion or explanation about "the principle of only including top-level articles" here or any other template. If I'm missing something, please, show me. Second, is there any problem Arsenal F.C. current season article be part of the top-level category? I think it should be there and I'd like to include it. Third, the reason to have the current season on this template is the same whatever reason in the Arsenal F.C. there are Current squad (no 1912-13 or 1951-52 squads), Players out on loan and other current information. In my view, because those current information are very notable (no sure about the Players out on loan). It's important to keep consistency, no consistency means bias.
