Template:AfC redirect error → Template:Uw-afcrc – Is very much a user warning. If not to uw-, it should at least be renamed to AfCRC error since the warning is for both redirects and categories and AfC redirect or category error is probably too long. If it is moved to uw-, WP:UW#single will have to be updated. Clyde!Franklin! 04:51, 1 December 2022 (UTC)

- Comment: The verbiage seems to read more like helpful user training rather than a warning. I don’t really see any consequences described implicitly or explicitly. No issue with adding category to the title somehow. -2pou (talk) 05:35, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose Uw-afcrc. It's indecipherable code. Might support Uw-afcredirect if others are interested. Else keep status quo. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:20, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per the above; I don't see this as a user warning, but a note about an edit the user made. There are no "levels" to this and it is mainly informative in nature. Primefac (talk) 10:19, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose a move to {{Uw-afcrc}}. It may look like some of our single issue notices, but these are not classed as user warnings, and neither is this. I did contemplate both the template's categorization and name upon creation in 2016, and as this template finds use as an advisory in a very specific situation on a project subpage, a subpage that historically is visited only by a small cohort of editors, I still find that categorizing it under the project in Category:WikiProject Articles for creation is logical. The current name of the template reflects that by the time of creation in 2016, the project subpage was named Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects, only in 2019 was the subpage moved to its current title following the requested move 26 May 2019. I have no objections to moving the template to Template:AfCRC error. Sam Sailor 11:13, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
Propose Split?
[edit]I think this template should be split into two: Template:Improper AfC redirect request and Template:Improper AfC category request. Reasons:
- This will make it easier to just pick a template instead of adding Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects or Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Categories to parameter 1.
- When the template is substituted, it will always show the two buttons, one to request another redirect and the other to request another category. I don't think the editor needs both buttons.
This way, the message is more concise if the reverting user leaves {{{1}}} blank. Myrealnamm (💬pros · 📜cons) 16:03, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think WP:AFC/C was split from WP:AFC/R earlier this year; it makes sense to split this template in the same way. jlwoodwa (talk) 23:42, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
