Conference records

[edit]

Just wanted to make note on this talk page that I changed the conference records of each team. As the citation would show, conference records for the PSAC will only include game within their division. For example, Shepherd's games against Edinboro and Cal don't contribute to their conference record. Click on the citation, which is a direct link to the PSAC website for verification. Waluigithewalrus, I noticed that you reverted Jweiss11's correction of teams' conference records, so I just wanted to ping you so you can see why the conference records were switched back. I was confused by this at first last year, but Jweiss11 explained to me that conference records only include games within their divisions. If you click on the citation's link, you'll see the conference records in this template match the PSAC website. Thanks! SPF121188 (talk this way) (contribs) 14:38, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, didn't realize that was done. I've been going off D2Football.com's standings for a lot of this and...well, they aren't the greatest. Waluigithewalrus (talk) 22:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Spf121188 On this note, would it make sense to change the template to include division records along with conference and overall? I know one of the templates for a DIII conference is like that, but I don't know if that'd be worth doing in this case.
Here's an example for what I mean: Template:2022 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football standings Waluigithewalrus (talk) 22:48, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's an interesting thought Waluigithewalrus... I know Jweiss11 is more involved in the WikiProject College Football than I am (I have interest in the PSAC because Shepherd is my alma mater,) so he might be able to help more. My only objection (that's not really an objection per se,) is that I think all division II templates are consistent with only showing conference and overall records. With that being said, I don't think it's a bad idea at all! SPF121188 (talk this way) (contribs) 20:25, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In the PSAC, division records and conference records are one and the same. Cross-divisional games within the PSAC are considered non-conference games. So, we should stick with the way it is. The MIAC, on the other hand, recognizes both division and conference records in their standings: https://miacathletics.com/standings.aspx?path=football. Fair enough, thanks Jweiss11! SPF121188 (talk this way) (contribs) 15:57, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Final game tie

[edit]

Jweiss11 Sorry to ping you on this but I don't know how to go about doing this without butchering this table. We had a game last night between Shippensburg and Gannon that ended in a tie, but I don't know of a good way to reflect that in the table without making it look bad. Any ideas on this? Waluigithewalrus (talk) 15:13, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Waluigithewalrus, no need to apoloigize. Feel free to ping when whenever you have a question or issue you might like to raise. To service ties in the the standings template, check out any of the pre-1996 examples, e.g. Template:1995 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football standings. As for the Shippensburg vs. Gannon game yesterday, I see the PSAC standing reporting a tie, but ESPN (https://www.espn.com/college-football/scoreboard/_/group/35), Shippensburg (https://shipraiders.com/news/2022/11/12/recap-football-wraps-up-season-with-wild-ot-victory-over-gannon-35-28.aspx), and Gannon (https://gannonsports.com/news/2022/11/12/football-gannons-playoff-hopes-dealt-a-blow-with-35-28-loss-to-shippensburg-in-overtime-on-senior-day.aspx) are all reporting a 35–28 overtime win for Shippensburg. Thanks for this, that'll definitely help. Bit frustrating that the major media sites can't seem to agree on results and standings frequently. Its part of the reason I had some of the standings screwed up earlier in the year, since some of these sites don't acknowledge these conferences have divisions or treat some in-conference games differently, like this one.
