Template:WikiProject Illinois/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

To add an article to the list, place {{WikiProject Illinois|class= |importance= }} at the top of the article's talk page, adding it to Category:WikiProject Illinois articles. This template should be transcluded as {{WikiProject Illinois}} and not substituted {{subst:}} because it employs conditional code. Transclusion also allows easy updating of all the Project's talk pages without having to edit thousands of pages. The template also employs several optional data field parameters as described below. For an example of how the template will appear if all parameters are active, please see: Template:WikiProject Illinois/testcases.

{{WikiProject Illinois
 |class =
 |importance =
 |attention =
 |imageneeded =
 |in =
 |imagedetails =
 |needs-infobox =
 |unref =
}}

[edit]
  • class: Options are FA, FL, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, NA, Cat, Dab, Image, List, Portal, Redir, and Template. If blank (#default), this will default as unassessed and list the article at Category:Unassessed WikiProject Illinois articles. NA is "not applicable". Descriptions of some of the options can be found at WikiProject Illinois/Quality scale.
  • importance: Top, High, Mid, Low, NA. If blank, this will default as unknown importance. Descriptions of the options can be found at WikiProject Illinois/Importance scale.
  • attention: Answer yes if the page needs immediate attention. Leave blank or delete if not. Adds talk pages to Category:WikiProject Illinois articles needing attention.
  • imageneeded: Answer yes to request a photograph, image, or map of the subject be added to the article. Leave blank or delete if not.
  • in: Used in conjunction with the imageneeded parameter to place the image request into a specific Illinois county. Leave blank or delete if not. For example, "in=DuPage County, Illinois" will place the article talk page into Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in DuPage County, Illinois.
  • imagedetails: This free-form parameter can be used in conjunction with the imageneeded parameter to add specific details about the images being requested. For example, "imagedetails=Please add a live-action shot to this sports article" will add the following: "An editor suggests the following: Please add a live-action shot to this sports article."
  • needs-infobox: Answer yes if the page needs an infobox. Leave blank or delete if not. Adds talk pages to Category:Illinois articles needing infoboxes.
  • unref: Answer yes if the article needs additional references or inline citations. Leave blank or delete if not. Adds talk pages to Category:Unreferenced WikiProject Illinois articles.

Notes

[edit]

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
