Template:Universe navboxes/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:Universe navboxes. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Purpose
[edit]The purpose of the {{Universe navboxes}} template is to provide a structure to ease navigation between the many space- and universe-related navigation templates. Feel free to restructure it to add further clarity.
Templates using the classes class=navbox
({{navbox}}) or class=nomobile
({{sidebar}}) are not displayed in article space on the mobile web site of English Wikipedia. Mobile page views account for approximately 68% of all page views (90-day average as of September 2024[update]). Briefly, these templates are not included in articles because 1) they are not well designed for mobile, and 2) they significantly increase page sizes—bad for mobile downloads—in a way that is not useful for the mobile use case. You can review/watch phab:T124168 for further discussion.
Collapsible options
[edit]- This template includes collapsible groups/sections. When it first appears, one of these groups/sections may be set to be visible ("expanded") while the others remain hidden ("collapsed") apart from their titlebars. To achieve this, include the parameter
|name
where name is one of the following words that identify the groups/sections (omit any speech or quotation marks): astronomy, Solar, stars, PGO
- For example:
{{Universe navboxes/doc |astronomy}}
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to collapsed
, meaning that it is hidden apart from its title bar.
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state=
parameter may be used:
{{Universe navboxes|state=expanded}}
will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.{{Universe navboxes|state=autocollapse}}
will show the template autocollapsed, i.e. if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar, but if not, it is fully visible.
