Template:Undue weight section/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

This tag may be used on sections of articles that discuss one aspect of the section topic in too much detail. This is especially true if the content focuses on a relatively unimportant aspect of the topic while ignoring items of greater importance or coverage.

Section headings should follow all the guidance for article titles. Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy requires that we don't give undue weight to any particular subtopic. If a section is tagged with this, you can improve the article by adding content relevant to the article and the section topic and trimming or deleting non-important content. Alternatively, it's possible that the appearance of undue weight could be resolved by renaming the section, or moving some of the content to a more appropriate section.

Examples

[edit]
{{Undue weight section|date=December 2024}}
{{Undue weight section|date=December 2024|to=replace with custom text}}

Parameters

[edit]
  • |date=December 2024 – to note when the template was added, so the page is put in the correct dated cleanup category
  • |to= - The value of this parameter will replace the generic wording in the bolded expression "certain ideas, incidents, or controversies" with your choice of text. For example: |to=a single primary source or |to=the hypothesis of a particular author. Alias: |1=; default: uses the generic wording.

This template sorts articles into Category:Wikipedia neutral point of view disputes, or a dated subcategory thereof.
