In professional road cycling, the name of a team is usually the name of the sponsor, and it can change every year. This template is used to refer to a team and make sure that the name will change correctly.
If two sponsors are used in the team name, the sponsor names are separated by an en dash. The ct template tries to use that style, although not all the team templates may be updated yet.

Year
In cycling, team names change with sponsors, and so the same team can have a completely different name in different years. For this, the year can be specified. If no year is specified, the most recent teamname is used. If a team changes names half-way a year, the two names are distinguished by adding a letter. For example, the team currently known as Tinkoff:
Code | Result | Note |
---|---|---|
{{UCI team code|SAX}} | Tinkoff | no year specified |
{{UCI team code|SAX|1998}} | home–Jack & Jones | the name the team had in the 1998 season. |
{{UCI team code|SAX|1999}} | home–Jack & Jones | the name the team had in the 1999 season. |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2000}} | Memory Card–Jack & Jones | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2001}} | CSC–Tiscali | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2002}} | CSC–Tiscali | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2003}} | Team CSC | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2004}} | Team CSC | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2005}} | Team CSC | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2006}} | Team CSC | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2007}} | Team CSC | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2008a}} | Team CSC | the name the team had in the first part of the 2008 season. |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2008b}} | CSC–Saxo Bank | the name the team had in the last part of the 2008 season. |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2009}} | Team Saxo Bank | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2010}} | Team Saxo Bank | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2011}} | Saxo Bank–SunGard | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2012a}} | Team Saxo Bank | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2012b}} | Saxo Bank–Tinkoff Bank | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2013}} | Saxo–Tinkoff | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|2014}} | Tinkoff–Saxo | |
{{UCI team code|SAX|nolink=yes}} | Tinkoff | the most recent name of the team, not linked. |
{{UCI team code|SAX|1998|nolink=yes}} | home–Jack & Jones | the name of the team in 1998, not linked. |
If an unknown year is added, the template will show a bad result, for example
- {{UCI team code|SAX|1997}} gives [[Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank|Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank]].
If this happens, it can be that you made a mistake, or that the year is not in the template yet. If the year should be there but is not in the template, add it to the template or make a request that it should be added.
