Template:Split and dab
It has been suggested that this page be split into multiple pages accessible from a disambiguation page. |
This template uses Lua: |
This template will add tagged articles to Category:Articles to be split.
Usage
When two or more distinct topics which share the same or similar title are being written about on the same page, a content split may be considered, and a disambiguation page created to point readers to the separate pages. Consideration must be given both to notability and to potential neutrality issues before proposing a split. If one or more of the topics is not notable it may be more appropriate to simply remove the material from Wikipedia than to create a new article.
- Parameters
If no parameters are used in the template (i.e., {{split}}
), it will display as above.
To suggest article names (or more than one), simply pipe them into the template. For example, {{split|Article 1|Article 2|Article 3}}
produces:
Up to 20 new names can be suggested. If only suggesting one article name, use {{split2}}
.
To indicate that only parts of the current article should be split (and therefore no disambiguation page is necessary), use part=yes
. For example, to prose a split of an article into two articles, using {{split|Article 1|Article 2|part=yes}}
produces:
To add the year and month the template was added to the article, use date=November 2024
.
To specify where the discussion about this split is taking place, use discuss=Talk:Article name#Talk page section
.
Examples
A full example, directing discussion to the talk page of article proposed to be split, uses the code
{{split|Article 1|Article 2|Article 3|part=yes|discuss=Talk:{{PAGENAME}}#Split|date=November 2024}}
which produces:
