Template:Register-COI
Welcome!
Hello Register-COI and welcome to Wikipedia!
When you registered your account, you answered "yes" when we asked you if you expect to edit Wikipedia for business or promotional purposes. That is why you have received this message. Please understand that this message does not in any way imply wrongdoing on your part. It is purely informational. Please feel free to delete this message after reading it, if you want to.
If you edit for those purposes, you may have what we call a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about some topics in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, someone or something that you will be writing about.
If you might be paid for, or profit from, making edits on behalf of someone or something, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any editing for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. (See WP:PAID for the details.)
A rule we have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
Wikipedia articles are subject to requirements about notability. To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your article before submission, and then ask another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If a page you create gets deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for a revised draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome!
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Register-COI}} ). Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. |
Usage
[edit]This is a draft of a template that was developed via the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Harassment/Archive 10#A process at account registration. There has been further discussion at the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey and Phabricator T157848. If the proposed process is implemented, then this template is to be used as part of that process. It is intended to be placed automatically on the user talk pages of new accounts that answer "yes" to the question "Do you expect to edit Wikipedia for business or promotional purposes?".
