| Year | 1 | Year of the Olympic or Paralympic Games. Accepts any valid Olympic year (every four from 1896 and every two from 1992) as well as 1906 for the Intercalated Games.

| Season | 2 | Determines season as Summer or Winter. Only required for years between 1924 and 1992 when all editions of Olympics and Paralympics were held in the same year. While not required for Youth Olympics, can be used without the Type parameter to define Youth Olympics as they are the opposite season of the main games.

Paralympics
[edit]The Paralympics can be displayed using the season and type parameter from 1960 for the Summer edition and from 1976 for the Winter edition

The Summer Paralympics can be displayed without specifying the season for 1960 to 1972, and both Winter and Summer Paralympics can be displayed without the season from 1994 onwards.

Youth Olympics
[edit]The Youth Olympics can be displayed using the type parameter from 2010 for the Summer Youth Olympics and from 2012 for the Winter Youth Olympics.

The Youth Olympics can also be displayed by only using the season parameter as they run on an opposite schedule to the main Olympic and Paralympic games

[edit]The template does not have display options for 1916, 1940, or 1944 for the Summer and Winter Olympics and 2022 for the Summer Youth Olympics as those games were canceled.
