{{National Register of Historic Places in Oregon counties lead}} provides a standardized lead section for the geographic lists of National Register of Historic Places entries in the U.S. state of Oregon. As such, it is designed for use in a specific set of 40 articles: once for each of the 36 counties of Oregon, less one for Multnomah County, plus one more for each of the 5 quadrants of Portland. (National Register of Historic Places listings in Multnomah County, Oregon requires a customized lead due to the fact that listings in Portland are broken out into separate list articles.) This template is not appropriate for use in any other article.
This template is intended to allow updates to the lead section (e.g. updated references or statewide totals) to be entered once and automatically populated to all 40 articles.
Usage
[edit]- Use the following syntax when placing this template in a county list:or use the shorthand redirect:
{{National Register of Historic Places in Oregon counties lead | COUNTY NAME | NUMBER OF LISTINGS | (optional) MULTICOUNTY INDICATOR }}
{{NRORlead | COUNTY NAME | NUMBER OF LISTINGS | (optional) MULTICOUNTY INDICATOR }}
- Use this syntax when placing this template in a Portland quadrant list:
{{NRORlead | "PDX" | NUMBER OF LISTINGS || QUADRANT ABBREVIATION }}
- This template is always placed at the beginning of the article, immediately before the "Current listings" section. Since this template is the article lead, do not add a section headline.
- This template should never be substituted in order to ensure future modifications to the template are properly populated to all 40 articles.
- This template takes 4 unnamed parameters, entered in the order listed below:
- (Required.) The geographic area covered in the list article:
- If the list covers one of the 35 counties other than Multnomah County, enter the name of the county covered in the list. Do not include the word "County".
- If the list covers one of the 5 quadrants of Portland, enter "PDX" (case sensitive).
- (Required, with qualification) Enter the total number of National Register listings in the county/quadrant. This should be the same as the bottom number in the first column of the table. Do not include any "Former listings" or "Determined eligible" listings. (If the list covers a quadrant of Portland, then the actual number is not used by the template code, but a placeholder for the parameter must be included using a double pipe:
||
. However, it is a good practice to enter the number as information for editors when they're looking at the list's wikicode.) - (Required, with qualification) Enter an "N" if none of the listings in this county extend into another county or state. This will remove the "partially or wholly" qualification in the transcluded text. If this parameter is omitted, or if anything other than "N" is entered, then the "partially or wholly" will be transcluded along with the remainder of the template. For a Portland list, this parameter should be left blank, but a placeholder for the parameter must be included using a double pipe:
||
. - (Conditionally required.) If the list covers one of the 5 quadrants of Portland, then an abbreviation for the quadrant must be entered: N, NE, NW, SE, SW (case sensitive). However, if the list covers one of the 35 counties other than Multnomah County, then this parameter should be omitted.
