Template:Infobox radio station dual/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Infobox radio station dual is a special flavor of Infobox radio station to be used for stations that simulcast programming (e.g. two FMs reaching a large market) or are related (e.g. an AM-FM combo in a small town) and should not have separate articles. Most technical and historical parameters are separated in two, one for each station.

If an article is to cover three or more radio station facilities, not counting translators, use a table for this kind of information and remove all technical information from the infobox, e.g. Cadena Salsoul.

Parameters

[edit]

All fields except for name, format1/format2, and owner are optional and will be hidden when not used; when values are entered for the relevant parameters, the fields will automatically appear.

The parameters translator and repeater should not both be used, except in unusual circumstances. Similarly, area is not used to simply repeat the same information that is already present in city; it should be used only when it needs to provide different information, such as a wider metropolitan market that might be served by a station whose city is technically just a suburb of the whole market.

The following country shortcodes are supported in Infobox radio station and Infobox television station:

 • AR = Argentina
 • AU = Australia
 • BR = Brazil
 • CA = Canada
 • CN = China
 • DE = Germany
 • ES = Spain
 • FR = France
 • HK = Hong Kong
 • ID = Indonesia
 • IE = Ireland
 • IN = India
 • IL = Israel
 • IT = Italy
 • JP = Japan
 • KE = Kenya
 • KR = South Korea
 • MX = Mexico
 • NG = Nigeria
 • NZ = New Zealand
 • NO = Norway
 • PH = Philippines
 • PK = Pakistan
 • SA = South Africa
 • TR = Turkey
 • TZ = Tanzania
 • UK = United Kingdom
 • US = United States
 • VE = Venezuela
 • ZW = Zimbabwe

Calculating "image_upright"

[edit]

The |image_upright= parameter, and |image2_upright= and |logo_upright= where applicable, are provided so as to facilitate the use of scalable images in this infobox, in accordance with the instructions at WP:IMAGESIZE, which advises against the use of "px" (for example: thumb|300px), as this forces a fixed image width.

Scalable images respect the user's base preference, which may have been selected for that user's particular devices. Module:InfoboxImage, which is used in this infobox, accommodates the use of scaling. However, setting the appropriate scale is slightly more complex than setting a raw "px" value. This guide provides a quick conversion table to make the process of setting a scale easier. It is based on a default thumbnail setting of 220px.

 • 170pxupright=0.75
 • 180pxupright=0.8
 • 190pxupright=0.85
 • 200pxupright=0.9
 • 210pxupright=0.95
 • 220pxupright=1
 • 230pxupright=1.05
 • 240pxupright=1.1
 • 250pxupright=1.15
 • 260pxupright=1.2
 • 270pxupright=1.23
 • 280pxupright=1.25
 • 290pxupright=1.3
 • 300pxupright=1.35

Country-specific licensing parameters

[edit]

This template displays links to license information for select countries when certain parameters are supplied.

Australia

[edit]

Set licensing_authority to ACMA and enter the Broadcast Service Licence (BSL) number in the field acma_bsl.

Brazil

[edit]

Set licensing_authority to ANATEL and enter the hexadecimal Channel ID in the field anatel_id. This is the field labeled "ID do Canal" in the last column of the ANATEL station search tool.

United States

[edit]

Set licensing_authority to FCC and enter the numeric Facility ID assigned by the FCC in the field facility_id. The template will determine if the station is AM or FM by if the power (AM) or erp (FM) parameter is filled.

The |facility_id= parameter value is used to complete the URL https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/public/tv/publicFacilityTechDetails.html?facilityId=facility_id so nothing else should be placed in this parameter.

Sub-templates

[edit]

Where possible, use:

as above.

If the radio station streams, consider using:

If the radio station broadcasts digitally using the HD Radio digital radio standard, include HD Radio as part of the frequency parameter.

For lists, use unbulleted list (ubl) instead of line breaks for accessibility reasons.

Microformat

[edit]

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

[edit]

If the place or venue has "established", "founded", "opened" or similar dates, use start date for the earliest of those dates unless the date is before 1583 CE.

If it has a URL, use URL.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.

Classes

[edit]

hCard uses HTML classes including:

 • adr
 • agent
 • category
 • county-name
 • extended-address
 • fn
 • label
 • locality
 • nickname
 • note
 • org
 • region
 • street-address
 • uid
 • url
 • vcard

Geo is produced by calling coord, and uses HTML classes:

 • geo
 • latitude
 • longitude

Please do not rename or remove these classes nor collapse nested elements which use them.

Precision

[edit]

When giving coordinates, please use an appropriate level of precision. Do not use coord's |name= parameter.
