Template:Historical map series/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

This template is used to create a switchable series of historical maps, for use in an infobox or as a thumbnail image.

Example

[edit]

Customized map image file names

[edit]
{{Historical map series|name=|date1=1870s|date3=1940s|date3=2010s|date4=2018 overlay on 1940s|image1=|image2=|image3=|image4=|default=}}

Standardized map image file names

[edit]

The template can pull map image files which follow this standard format: File:Historical map series for the area of NAME (DATE).jpg, where NAME is the article name (or the name in the "name" parameter, if used) and DATE is the text used in the datex parameter.

{{Historical map series
|default=2
|date1=1870s
|date2=1940s
|date3=2010s
|date4=2018 overlay on 1940s
|width=225
}}

Output:

1870s map
1940s map
2010s map
2018 overlay on 1940s map

Up to six maps can be used.
