Usage

Use this template to add a reference to a species page on the web site GRIN. At the moment, it cannot link to pages on other taxonomic ranks, such as genera and families.

information Note: This template is designed to support WikipediaBioReferences and retrieves Wikidata. Do not edit this template unless you are familiar with these functionalities or are copying updated code from commons.

This template accepts all parameters that {{citation}} accepts.

Syntax

Simple

Simply use the tag by itself or leave the id parameter blank to generate a citation/link of Wikidata's corresponding GRIN link for the current plant species. Wikidata: has GRIN links for most of the Wikipedia species on the GRIN database.

Adding {{GRIN}} to the Maize page creates (in the beginning of 2020) the following:

Parameters
  • |mode=
By default Citation Style 1; switch to Citation Style 2 with |mode=cs2.
  • |id=
the id of the species on GRIN web site.
How to retrieve the id: use the search page to retrieve the correct page.
In the url https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/taxonomydetail.aspx?3074 the id is 3074
Sample (for ananas): 3074
  • |name= (optional)
The name of the taxon
Sample (for ananas): Ananas comosus
  • |authors= (optional)
The taxon authors
Sample (for ananas): (L.) Merr.
  • |validity= (optional)
If the genus is considered as unaccepted or synonym by GRIN, add nv.
Sample (for searching example): nv
  • |access-date=2 December 2024 (optional)
Specify the date the article was accessed.
