FooIndustry companies (dis)established in YYYY/doc is used to create categories of the form "FooIndustry companies established in YYYY" or "FooIndustry companies disestablished in YYYY", where:

  1. "FooIndustry" is the industry involved, e.g. "Retail" or "Manufacturing" or "Mass media"
  2. YYYY is a 4-digit year.

The templates creates navigation tables and puts the page into the correct parent categories: "Category:FooIndustry companies by year of (dis)establishment", and other specified by parameters below

Usage

Simple usage

No parameters are needed, but optional parameters are available to change the parent categories.

Default parent category

By default, the category is placed in the parent "Category:Companies (dis)established in YYYY".

For example, on Category:Retail companies established in 1959, {{FooIndustry companies (dis)established in YYYY}} will cause the category to be parented in Category:Companies established in 1959.

Specifying parent categories

For subtypes of company, the default parent "Category:Companies (dis)established in YYYY" will be inappropriate.

Alternative parent categories may be specified by using up to four unnamed parameters, of the form {{FooIndustry companies (dis)established in YYYY|parent1|parent2|parent3|parent4}}
