Template:Draft at/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

This template is used by Template:Editnotices/Namespace/Main and Template:New page DYM (which is called by Template:No article text) to create an editnotice when a draft version of the article exists, in order to prevent the unnecessary creation of duplicates and help editors discover abandoned drafts they could take over rather than starting from scratch to save time. It is not for direct use on articles or redirects.

The template will not show up if the draft in question redirects outside of draft space. In other words, if Draft:Foo is moved to Draft:Bar with a redirect left behind, the editnotice will display the message when creating Foo, noting that Draft:Foo exists and redirects to Draft:Bar. However, if Draft:Bar is then moved to Bar, with Draft:Foo retargeted there as well, no message will show up when creating Foo.

For rare ad hoc uses, the {{{1}}} parameter can be used to specify a page other than Draft:{{FULLPAGENAME}}, and the {{{show_on_redirect}}} parameter can be used to force the template to display even if the page is a redirect pointing outside draftspace.
