Xenoturbella bocki

[edit]
  • That the wormlike marine Xenoturbella bocki may resemble the common ancestor of humans and mollusks? Source: "Here we show robust phylogenomic support for Xenacoelomorpha as the sister taxon of Nephrozoa" [1]

  • size and age ok, needs to explicitly mention these ancestors in the article (just mentions deuterostomes and protosoma). Do you need to do QPQ too? Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:32, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
  • edited the Taxonomy section to explain what deuterostoma and protostoma are, hopefully making the ancestry clear. As for QPQ, I don't think so? DYK credits are previously promoted nominations right? I have one past DYK nomination (FVB Mice), so I think I have one DYK credit, which is less than 5? But I might misunderstand what DYK credits are... --HighFlyingFish (talk) 17:22, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
  • ok all good. You are correct on the number of DYK credits. I didn't know how many you had. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 06:41, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @HighFlyingFish: Coming to promote this, I don't see mention in the article that this organism may resemble its common ancestor. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:47, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
  • @Cwmhiraeth: The support for that comes from the same article as cited for the rest of the hook. I've added the sentence "Recent studies support the later interpretation, and suggest that, like Xenoturbella bocki, the common ancestor likely had one opening, ciliated locomotion and a wormlike body.[9]" to the Taxonomy section so it's more clear to readers what that means. Does that sound good, or should it be more clear/more prominent? HighFlyingFish (talk) 04:10, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
  • It has occured to me that the alternative hypothesis (Xenoturbella bocki is a deuterostome) yields the following funny hook "That the wormlike marine Xenoturbella bocki may have lost its anus." This may or may not draw more clicks. My understanding is that it's the less favored hypothesis, and I'm not sure how I feel about marine worm toilet humor. • Replacing the tick for the original hook now that all the hook facts are included in the article. Another possibility may be to rephrase the hook to use the term "paradox worm" like this
  • ALT1 ... that the marine paradox worm may resemble the common ancestor of humans and mollusks? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
