- Although new enough, this is still too small at 1292 characters. Also linking German Government to Nazi Party is a bit tricky in the hook. Don't we have abetter article on the government at that time to link to? QPQ was OK, Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:30, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, Graeme Bartlett. I'm never sure how to count the characters correctly. I bulked it up. I changed the redirect from Nazi Party to Nazi Germany. LavaBaron (talk) 08:03, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Now long enough, but per DYK rules, if we're going to use this hook then the sentence containing the hook claim (in the article, the phrase "owned and operated by the German government during World War II") needs to have its own footnote (possibly re-using one of the existing footnotes). —David Eppstein (talk) 00:02, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- David Eppstein - apologies for my delayed reply. I think this is now corrected. Please let me know if I missed anything or you have any further feedback. Best - LavaBaron (talk) 07:02, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Now properly sourced, taking the hook source AGF as it is offline. As before, new enough, long enough, with no writing problems and no copyvio found. QPQ done. Good to go. —David Eppstein (talk) 07:19, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't see any mention of Nazism in the article. Yoninah (talk) 22:47, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- The first sentence of the article (the one with the hook source) says "the German government during World War II". "Nazi Germany" (the hook link) is just another way of saying the same thing. —David Eppstein (talk) 23:03, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Right. I know that. But I think it's disingenuous for the hook to mention it and the article, not. Yoninah (talk) 23:33, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Yoninah I'd suggest you take this up with the editor who surreptitiously introduced it into the hook [1]. I'm not going to risk further personal attacks [2] by trying to edit-war it out. Don't enjoy being used as the DYK punching bag. Thanks. LavaBaron (talk) 00:26, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- How is Nazi Germany not mentioned in the article when another phrase that means exactly the same thing as Nazi Germany is used in the first sentence of the article? Do you really think our readers are so uninformed that every related article needs to tell its readers that the German government during World War II was Nazi, in case they don't know it? And what is "surreptitious" about using "Nazi" as a shorthand for the German government during World War II??—David Eppstein (talk) 00:27, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Nothing surreptitious; I'm fine with either word-choice. I just wanted to note for Yoninah's benefit that I was not that one who wrote the hook as it's presented; that my comments/original hook was edited directly instead of an Alt being introduced and she'd need to address her concerns to the editor who did that instead of me. Thank you, LavaBaron for going to the trouble of digging up the edit history. Your link to the edit in question was very helpful.
- I'd like to make this discussion clearer. I've restored LavaBaron's original hook (ALT0) and the link tweak as suggested by Graeme Bartlett (ALT0a). Then I added EEng's suggestion as ALT1. Folks, I'm fine with "Nazi-owned". I would just like to know if the page creator wants to add that to the article. Of course everyone knows the German government during WWII was Nazi. But DYK is not a place for thinking; you just click on the article and click out. You see "Nazi" in the hook and then you don't see it in the article. Personally, I think it would improve the article to say it was Nazi-owned, if in fact it was. Yoninah (talk) 11:39, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Of course it was. And nothing needs to be added, because our article already says that it was. There is no difference in meaning between "Nazi-owned" and "owned by the German government" for that time period. The article already says it was owned by the German government. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:47, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Fine. I defer to you. Please choose ALT0a or ALT1 and give it another tick. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:25, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- My preference is ALT1, just because the wording is tighter and less awkward, but both are acceptable. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:40, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
