Vostok (sloop-of-war), Mirny (sloop-of-war)

Vostok (left) and Mirny (right) during the First Russian Antarctic Expedition, a commemorative coin of the Bank of Russia

Created/expanded by Greyhood (talk). Self nom at 21:39, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

  • QPQ review needed for self-nom. Editor has >5 DYK credits. Lord Roem (talk) 15:56, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Done Reviewed: Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Nova N 176. GreyHood Talk 23:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Note. The description of the Antarctic journey is mostly the same in both ship articles, but since this is a single nomination, it should be OK. GreyHood Talk 23:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
    • A bit on the shorter side, but I think it meets the mark. Accepting Russian-language sources in good faith. Lord Roem (talk) 00:38, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
    • Yes, a little on the short side, and a lot of the prose in the two articles is similar. This is a borderline concern, but I also see that the "Named in honor" sections in the two articles (which, as bulleted lists, don't count toward the prose) are not fully sourced and lack information on where in the Antarctic the various named landforms are. Fleshing out these sections with a little more detail (for example, when were these features named and by whom?) and converting them to prose would improve the two articles and nicely address the length issue. --Orlady (talk) 13:37, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
      •  Done references provided, text of the "Named in honor" sections expanded. GreyHood Talk 18:55, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Works for me. The new content is still in bullet form, so it doesn't officially count as prose, but it's worthwhile content. (AGF on the rest of the review.) --Orlady (talk) 02:14, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
