Vera Brodsky Lawrence
- ... that Vera Brodsky Lawrence (pictured), despite being a catalyst for the revival of Scott Joplin's music, hated being called the "queen of ragtime"? Source: Ms. Lawrence is the one who dug Scott Joplin out of the dust of libraries, took him away from the specialists, and set him loose on the world. Without her, The Sting would have had music by somebody else and there wouldn't be sixteen listings of ragtime music under Joplin's name in the classical section of Schwann's catalogue. So—whether she likes it or not—Ms. Lawrence is the queen of ragtime.[1]

- @Theleekycauldron: I thought I had added it, but it's: Template:Did you know nominations/Women in Etruscan society. However, that DYK nomination hit a snag because of some problems with its prose and sourcing. I tried to give the submitting editor time to remedy these issues and even took a stab at them myself, but I didn't get very far as it quickly became a bigger challenge than expected and I have only so much time on my hands. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 22:42, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
