Tooth and Tail
[edit]... that Tooth and Tail went through three different titling variations during its development?- ALT1:
... that real-time strategy video games StarCraft and Command & Conquer were two of the influences for Tooth and Tail?

- Comment: It's possible that we include a screenshot of the gameplay, but considering how small it'd have to be, I decided against it.
Improved to Good Article status by Anarchyte (talk). Self-nominated at 11:19, 16 February 2018 (UTC).
- Article is good, but I am not really feeling the DYK questions, the first one is typical for many games and the second is kind of obvious. How about "that Tooth and Tail is set in a 19th century society of anthropomorphic animals?" or alternatively "that in Tooth and Tail, animals fight to decide which species will be eaten?" (I like the 2nd one a lot better)ZXCVBNM (TALK) 05:13, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Zxcvbnm: Yeah, we'll go with ALT3:
"...that in Tooth and Tail, animals fight to decide which species will be eaten?"Anarchyte (work | talk) 08:04, 18 February 2018 (UTC)- Okay, I'd say the article is ready for DYK then.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 17:01, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, but since Zxcvbnm suggested the hook, they may not also approve it. Independent reviewer requested to review ALT3. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:32, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Here is a full review: New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I agree that ALT3 is the better hook, but I don't see it in the article and it needs an inline cite. QPQ done. Yoninah (talk) 20:04, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Usually, plot doesn't need sourcing. Here's a source that I'll put in the article now. [1] Anarchyte (work | talk) 22:29, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Anarchyte: you're right, plot summary doesn't need sourcing, but since you're using it as the hook fact, it does. The sentence that you cited, "in a society where anthropomorphic animals are facing chronic food shortages", doesn't match the ALT3 hook fact. Neither does the next sentence. Maybe the third, though this sentence and the source doesn't say anything about animals fighting to decide which species will be eaten. Yoninah (talk) 22:45, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: I thought this part of the source covered it: And so we set about inventing an animal society in the midst of revolution - the squirrels, skunks, and rats are starving, and so they all turn to eating each other. It's animal cannibalism, and citizens of this crumbling animal-industrial society would rather be predators than prey. I've moved the ref to be here: ...created a lottery system that ultimately controlled who was eaten. Anarchyte (work | talk) 03:20, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Anarchyte: yes, we're reading the same source. Where does it say anything about a lottery? I think you should rewrite the line in the article to reflect the source better. All the source talks about is animals turning to cannibalism to stave off food shortages, and the anthropomorphism of the type of battlefield strategy they undertake. Then the hook should be revised. Yoninah (talk) 11:54, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- I've changed the article to coincide with the source. How do you suggest the hook be changed? Anarchyte (work | talk) 06:32, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
- I don't understand; the plot summary is still talking about a lottery. Does any source say that? Regarding the hook, I know next to nothing about gameplay. Perhaps another user could help you here. Yoninah (talk) 23:59, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
- Query: how does ALT3 meet WP:DYKSG#C6:
If the subject is a work of fiction or a fictional character, the hook must involve the real world in some way.
The game is a fictional construct, and this hook (and ALT2, for that matter) seems to run afoul of this provision. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:00, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
