Thirumbi Paar

[edit]

5x expanded by Vensatry (talk). Self nominated at 09:21, 15 December 2013 (UTC).

  • Expansion and date are OK, the hook by AGF. Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 13:56, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
  • While we can assume good faith about the content of the source, the fact mentioned in the hook (earliest political satire of the INC) is not even stated in the article. -Kieran (talk) 18:53, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
  • The hook makes the claim that this was one of the earliest Tamil-language films that was a political satire on the INC. While the article states that it was one of the earliest films by the director, and that it was a political satire on the INC, it does not make this specific claim. I would say that it would be good to go with ALT1 instead. ( for ALT1). -Kieran (talk) 17:23, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
ALT1: * ... that the 1953 Tamil film Thirumbi Paar was written by a prominent Dravidian Progress Federation politician as a satire on the ruling Indian National Congress?
ALT2: * ... that the 1953 Tamil film Thirumbi Paar was written by M. Karunanidhi, a prominent member of the Dravidian Progress Federation, as a satire on the ruling Indian National Congress?
"Prominent Dravidian Progress Federation politician" doesn't sound good to me. I'd like to include the name of the person as Karunanidhi has been a prominent figure in the history of Tamil cinema and Dravidian politics for over 60 years. Vensatry (Ping me) 18:04, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
for ALT2. I do agree -- Karunanidhi is the real meat of this hook. From his article, he seems like quite a dynamic and (and very politically important) person. -Kieran (talk) 06:34, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
