The Star, St John’s Wood

Created by Edwardx (talk). Self-nominated at 22:56, 23 August 2015 (UTC).

  • Several issues: Created on August 16 at 00:34, not nominated until 22:56, 23 August, so that's technically more than seven days since creation (don't know how strict they are about this; when I'm past 168 hours since creation/expansion, I never submit it). Still classed as a stub. Needs a tiny bit more expansion to be a start and an objective reclassification, IMHO. I'd build the lede to three or four sentences. Seems to meet neutrality and citation guides. On my first pass, I see some close paraphrasing that needs work. The second paragraph is almost word-for-word from the source given. Go over all the text before I come back to check up. Hook seems to meet length and format, seems interesting, neutral and accurate based on provided source. BusterD (talk) 18:26, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Lead expanded. Text copyedited. Plus there's a QPQ to be done shortly! Edwardx (talk) 13:19, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
  • QPQ done. Edwardx (talk) 13:37, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
  • I've got the hook at 201 characters. I know it's tricky but is there a way of knocking the character count down a tad? BusterD (talk) 18:52, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
  • This has been waiting over two weeks for a shorter hook than 201 characters. If a hook of valid length is not supplied within 48 hours of the nominator's next edit, the nomination will be marked for closure. Note: in terms of article age, we typically allow a nomination any time during the day when it turns seven days after creation, even if (as in this case) it's 00:34 and 22:56 UTC. • Changed "area of London" to "London area". Hook is now under the limit. Edwardx (talk) 12:35, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
  • Character count now 199. Now GTG. BusterD (talk) 14:06, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
  • The article should still be fine, but may I suggest the guy who comes by to promote it uses
ALT1: ... that The Star (pictured)—despite being an Asset of Community Value—was converted into an estate agent in April, leaving St John's Wood with just three pubs but 13 estate agents?
It's not actually named TSStJW; the hook reads better; and nothing's changed factually from the review above, so should be G2G. Too bad there's not a way to work in that it's forcing them to pay 5 quid a pint or drink at home. — LlywelynII 22:47, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
  • I checked the license for the image; that seems to be OK. New hook (ALT 1) is better than the old one. Personally I don't like it that much, but this has been here long enough; time to move it to the front page. Drmies (talk) 02:20, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
