The Plot To Kill Stalin (Playhouse 90)
- ... that the Soviet Union called The Plot To Kill Stalin "filthy slander" and retaliated by closing the CBS Moscow news bureau? Sources: The Soviet ambassador: "I voiced a resolute protest against this provocative action. That was a filthy slander against the Soviet Union ..." and "Moscow Closes CBS News Bureau: Acts Because of Play, 'The Plot to Kill Stalin,' and Other Radio-TV Programs", both from The New York Times.
- ALT1:... that The Plot To Kill Stalin depicted Nikita Khrushchev for all practical purposes as Stalin's murderer and caused Khrushchev to "hit the ceiling"? Sources: "As represented on the screen ... Khruschev for all practical purposes was depicted as the murderer of his predecessor." and the Schorr book (at p. 112) says Khrushcev "hit the ceiling" when he learned of his depcition.
