Sutton Athletic F.C.
[edit]- ... that between 1968 and 1971 English non-league football team Sutton Athletic F.C. won three successive promotions whilst also winning three successive league cups?
- Reviewed:Barbados v Grenada (1994)
- Comment: This is my first DYK nomination so any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

- The article is long enough, new enough, well-cited and the refs are formatted. The hook fact is cited, but unfortunately, it's by a primary source, which is also used for most of the article. This is a problem. Can you find this information from somewhere else, a newspaper article (or several)? They can be listed on the page, but properly go in the "External links" section and then one link to the main page should be sufficient in most cases. By the way, you don't actually have to do a review for your first five nominations, but thank you anyway! Marrante (talk) 19:56, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
- Update: I left a note on the nominator's talk page when I left the above and added a reminder there on February 4. Marrante (talk) 09:42, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for the lateness of reply, I was away on holiday over the weekend. Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful in finding any other references to the club's achievement other than the honours boards on the club website and the website of the league. I'm not sure where to go about finding a relevent newspaper article as I don't live near the location of the club. Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:50, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Quite alright. Sometimes, it helps to leave a note if you're going to be gone for more than a few days. I know there are cases where refs are very hard to come by. Even if you can't find other sources to back up what you do have, sometimes, you can find a source that gives you something else to write about. You get some new information and rather than having to look for a ref to back up what you have, you start with the ref and use it to build your article. Here's such a source, "Sutton United first football club to up its game in reducing emissions" that gives you another aspect to write about, it helps notability because it's a news source, and it's a good ref. Here's another. Just go through the articles, find something interesting you like and put it in the article, ending the sentence or two with a ref. Then you'll have made the article more interesting, as well. Here's [ttp://www.pyramidpassion.co.uk/html/sutton_united.html another], not as good as the first two, but perhaps usable. Here's another. Hopefully, with these, you'll be able to flesh things out a bit and get the reflist in better shape. Marrante (talk) 22:26, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Cheers for the links, however, the ones you've listed are about Sutton United who are four leagues above Sutton Athletic, which is probably why it's easier to find articles about United. The difficulty is that Sutton Athletic have only just reached level 10, and it's the highest they've ever played. I'll continue searching for references and comment on your talk page in a day or two to tell you if I've been successful. Thanks. Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:56, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about the lack of response. I haven't been able to find any more info. The link you've given me is for Long Sutton Athletic F.C.. I've decided to self-remove the nomination. Cheers. Del♉sion23 (talk) 14:22, 11 February 2012 (UTC)- When I went to save the following, I ran into an edit conflict. I'm scotching your post and going ahead and will leave mine.

In looking at this link again just now, I noticed that while it says "Athletic Football Club", it says "LONG Sutton Athledtic Football Club". Is this yet another club and not the one you were writing about? I also see that you have had a second DYK now, so I guess that under the circumstances, the sourcing here is acceptable, so I will go ahead and green light this one. Sorry for the delay.
