- This isn't an approval or disapproval, rather a comment from a contributor. @PCHS-NJROTC:, I am very familiar with the subject of the article, Steven Anderson. I wrote most of the "Doctrine" section in the Faithful Word Baptist Church article. It's good to see someone else taking an interest in this man, and I'm glad to see it. As I argued in a 2018 RfC, "This sect is notable and growing. Yes, it is very extreme. Yes, they are bigoted and hateful. But they are a sign of the times, and their extremism doesn't make them NN." So I feel vindicated by your request here on DYK. But now let me get to my issue. I really feel that the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist article is too prominently featured in these hooks, when Steven Anderson is the article you expanded. The New IFB article has serious problems; most of it is WP:PRIMARY verging on WP:OR. I would prefer hooks that don't stress the New IFB part quite so strongly. Hope you understand. - Oh, and in any event, I uploaded the image that you are trying to get promoted, so I don't think I'm even allowed to formally review this DYK, so please treat my comment as an informal review from a concerned contributor. Thanks, Psiĥedelisto (talk) 13:52, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- I kind of agree that this should highlight the article about him rather than his denomination, hence the newly proposed hook. Furthermore, I would like to make it known that the purpose of this nomination is not to promote this man, but rather to promote encyclopedic human knowledge. I am an "Independent Fundamental Baptist" myself, but I'm inclined to agree that this guy is "extreme"; I first learned about him because someone at church was following him, I watched his video "Professing Themselves to be Wise" and thought "he's crass, but this is good," then I started reading more into it... praying for Obama's death? Calling for the execution of the LGBT? Wearing the "hate group" label as a badge of honor? Fighting with Border Patrol? Yeah, no. I may have very conservative theological views, but I don't hate anybody with the exception of Satan and people like Adolph Hitler (and perhaps anyone who is mean to Brooke). My IFB pastor has denounced Anderson as a cult leader. I decided to create the article after noticing there was content at the Faithful Word Baptist Church article that had nothing to do with the church other than Steven Anderson being its founder and pastor. But regardless of my own opinions, I hope to see this article expanded with good, factual information about this subject presented in a neutral manner. God bless. - Excellent. I approve hook ALT3, and believe that the article itself fulfills all the necessary criteria for DYK (newness, QPQ, etc.). However, as I believe I have a WP:COI as regards the image, (I uploaded it,) I will not go so far as to approve my own image and will allow others to decide whether or not the image fulfills the criteria.
