... that 1920s belles-lettres books published by the State Publishing House of Ukraine (symbol depicted) would sell out much faster than similar books elsewhere in the Soviet Union in spite of the higher average price?

The quote says Ukrainian publishers also meant that Ukrainian books on the average cost 10 per cent more than Russian publications so I believe the hook needs to say ... would sell out much faster than similar Russian books in the Soviet Union ... instead.         Actually, there is a little bit more material in the source. For example "The high cost of Ukrainian books was a constant theme of readers' complaints during that decade". Now, the source talks about 'Ukrainian' and 'Russian' books, but that isn't necessarily Ukrainian-language vs. Russian-language books. I think better to stick to the original wording. --Soman (talk) 00:06, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
