Silas Alexander Ramsay

[edit]

maybe "Calgary mayor Silas Alexander Ramsay"? Otherwise looks okay to me (free image, cited hook fact, etc).Penny Richards (talk) 14:52, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

5x expanded by Connormah (talk). Self nominated at 05:40, 25 February 2014 (UTC).

  • Sure, that works for me. I'll get to the QPQ later today. Thanks! Connormah (talk) 16:39, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Penny Richards, the review needs more details to qualify as a QPQ, in accordance with. DYK review instructions please begin with one of the 5 review symbols that appear at the top of the edit screen, and then indicate all aspects of the article that you have reviewed. Details that are supposed to be checked in a review can be found at DYKReviewing guide — Maile (talk) 20:39, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Connormah, I don't want this to drag out forever, and I don't think Penny Richards is coming back to finish this. Her DYK she did this for passed and was already on the main page. So, I spot checked with Duplication Detector and found no issues. DYK Check confirms you took this to 5X expansion as of Feb 25, 2014, and it has 5809 characters (0 words) "readable prose size". Confirm that you took care of the QPQ. So all that is fine.
My question: What does the hook mean? He was one of the last surviving members 69 years later in 1939. But so what? And with a time frame, it's not that hooky. Without a time frame, the hook doesn't mean anything. Could you do an ALT hook? — Maile (talk) 00:00, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Maile66, I'll see about an alt, but back when I wrote this, it seems that this was the most interesting that I could come up with, especially considering his obscurity. I wouldn't be opposed to adding a timeframe in the hook. Connormah (talk) 00:25, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
ALT1 (though quite generic) - ...that the neighbourhood of Ramsay in Calgary is named after former mayor Silas Alexander Ramsay?
ALT2 - ...that Mayor of Calgary Silas Alexander Ramsay was a member of the Calgary Rifle Club?
@Maile66: added two alts Connormah (talk) 02:56, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Good to go with either ALT1 or ALT2. Both are stated in the article and referenced. — Maile (talk) 11:10, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
