Schwesta Ewa
[edit]- ... that German rapper Schwesta Ewa raps about being abused in her former life as a prostitute, but was arrested for the forced prostitution of her own fans?
- in English, "The list of charges is long: suspicion of human trafficking with the purpose of sexual exploitation, suspicion of pimping, bodily harm, and offenses against the tax code. According to Bild, the gangster rapper "made female fans financially dependent, then forced them into prostitution"."- ALT1:... that the career of German rapper Schwesta Ewa suffered a setback when her mentor and record label boss Xatar was arrested in Iraq for stealing €1.7 million of gold?
Source: drawn from this (German) interview. Unfortunately it's too long to quote and translate here, but it's discussed in the three questions starting "Fühlst du dich mittlerweile im Musikbusiness zuhause?". The most relevant part is "Xatars Abwesenheit dich blockiert" - "Xatar's absence blocked you". There is at least an English language citation for Xatar's arrest here. - ALT2 ... that German rapper Schwesta Ewa often sings about her former life as a prostitute?

- Main hook, the better one; the Alt. New enough, long enough, neutral? weeelll... factual anyway. All sources in German so AGF on copyvio. My German can handle the main but not the alt hook, so AGF there. GTG. Johnbod (talk) 05:20, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- This is a BLP, and it is unacceptable to use the fact that she has been arrested for certain alleged offences in the hook. ALT1 also contravenes this rule, so a new hook is needed. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:11, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, ok, sorry. Johnbod (talk) 03:34, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Would "...was convicted and imprisoned for stealing..." be acceptable then? Smurrayinchester 13:53, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Smurrayinchester: I think it runs into essentially the same problem - i.e., that the problem is not about the hook's accuracy or verifiability, but rather its neutrality. I'm not sure it's exactly expressly forbidden for the hook to focus on controversial aspects of an individual's life (or that this qualifies as a statement that "puts undue emphasis on a negative aspect of a living individual" per the guide), but it's probably best practice to attempt to avoid doing so here. Maybe you could suggest a less controversial topic for a new hook to focus on? AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 23:02, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
- Her first album was called "Whore", and she seems to talk about little that could not be construed as negative aspects of her life. Is "controversial" really the word here? That implies somebody is arguing another view, & I can't see it. Johnbod (talk) 01:22, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- I've added a possible ALT2, as barebones as possible. If that still fails BLP, then I might as well as withdraw this nomination. Smurrayinchester 08:42, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- Well I personally also think ALT0 is the most interesting, but I was just hoping to offer my interpretation of Cwmhiraeth's concerns. Again, I'm not sure if I agree that it puts "undue emphasis" on that particular aspect of the artist's life. On the other hand, there hasn't even been a trial for the alleged forced prostitution yet, right? Some amount of arguing on the details related to that is certain to take place in the near future. - As I understand the position, which has been discussed on the DYK discussion page, a hook for a BLP must not emphasize adverse aspects of a person's life, and should not mention them being investigated, arrested or charged with an offence but can mention a conviction. Schwesta Ewa has had a colourful life which has included plenty of other hooky events. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:53, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- If ALT2 is unacceptable, then there is literally nothing about this article that can go on the main page. Smurrayinchester 09:19, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'll just note that Cwm seems completely right about this, howevermuch that charge is the hookiest thing in the article. It's already in the lede, though: it can be an easter egg for whoever clicks through. Surely ALT2 doesn't need to be that barebones, though, if she titled her first album after her former profession. — LlywelynII 12:56, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
We should stay consistent with whatever is going on with this nomination, though, which currently has similarly negative BLP hooks. — LlywelynII 13:45, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

- ALT2 was added after my original comment, and would seem permissible to me. Are you able to approve it, @Johnbod:? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:24, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, the hook claim is the same as part of the original, so covered. So I can approve, but ready to defer to consensus on the BLP "puts undue emphasis on a negative aspect of a living individual" issue. As I've said above, I don't think it "undue", given her own publicity efforts. Johnbod (talk) 16:52, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
