Red-billed pied tanager
- ... that the red-billed pied tanager (pictured) is not a tanager? Source - at the end of the paper, species moved out of tanager family into new family.
5x expanded by Craigthebirder (talk) and Casliber (talk). Nominated by Casliber (talk) at 03:31, 16 May 2021 (UTC).
- This article is new enough and long enough. The image is appropriately licensed, the hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral, and I detected no copyright issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:35, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Craigthebirder and Casliber, I was going to promote this one, but see that there are external links within the article (in the Voice section). These will need to be fixed before it can be promoted. MeegsC (talk) 14:51, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC and Casliber. MeegsC, do you mean the links to the vocalizations in Xeno-canto? How should they be fixed? Craigthebirder (talk) 15:10, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- Craigthebirder, the sentences in that section should be sourced to a print/online reference, not a url link. To direct people to sounds, use the xeno-canto template. (See black-chinned sparrow for an example.) MeegsC (talk) 15:16, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC I see that, but the template just goes to the X-c species page, not to individual vocalizations that I wanted to highlight. Is there a way to both have and eat my cake? (BTW, the quotes are sourced.) Craigthebirder (talk) 16:28, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- Craigthebirder, try template:birdsong or template:listen. MeegsC (talk) 16:32, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC Tried separate "birdsong" templates for song and call but couldn't get the captions to show. So just went with it to the X-c species page. Craigthebirder (talk) 17:09, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- You'll need to download the audio file from canto, upload it to commons with the right license, then use the template:listen to link it. It isn't easy but I hope you manage it, because listening to the bird adds a lot to the article. If not you could delete the external link. Desertarun (talk) 16:33, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- Actually Desertarun, he doesn't need to do that at all. The birdsong template works just fine as Craigthebirder had used it. It would be completely inappropriate to download the file from xeno-canto to commons, as the files on xeno-canto have a non-commercial license, and thus cannot be uploaded to commons. MeegsC (talk) 17:36, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of the licenses on the canto website. Can this be promoted now? Desertarun (talk) 18:40, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- DesertArun, like I said on 13 June, what Craigthebirder did with the template was just fine. It fixed the problem. So yes, this is ready to go. MeegsC (talk) 20:47, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- MeegsC. OK, thanks, I'll move it back to approved. Desertarun (talk) 20:54, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
