Ineligible for DYK; withdrawn by nominator

Raymond Crews

[edit]
  • ... that Louisiana state representative Raymond Crews is a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars where he flew combat missions? Source: "Crews will replace Republican Mike Johnson who left the state House seat... flew in combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan."[1]

Nominated by Lionelt (talk) at 06:49, 23 March 2018 (UTC).

  • The article is new enough and long enough. It doesn't seem to violate Wikipedia policy. The hook is cited and the QPQ is done. I removed "newly elected" from the hook because Crews was elected in April 2017, almost a year ago. The only problem is that I couldn't find the date of birth in the references. Please add a source to verify the date of birth or remove it, since this is a biography of a living person. Gulumeemee (talk) 10:49, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you @Gulumeemee: I couldn't find a source for his birthdate so I removed it. – Lionel(talk) 11:27, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
  • The article has been deleted by a bot, which stated that the page creator, P Moyne, is a sock of the permanently banned user Billy Hathorn. Yoninah (talk) 22:01, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Article will be back soon. Standby... – Lionel(talk) 00:50, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • In that case, I think this nomination will need to be reviewed again. Gulumeemee (talk) 02:49, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Content of the article has not changed at all since it was reviewed and approved on April 6. The deletion/refund is not even recorded in the article history nor on the talk page. For all intents and purposes--well for our purposes anyway--the delete/refund never happened. No reason to vacate previous review.– Lionel(talk) 04:18, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • The deletion log shows that the article was restored because of my review. I think that makes me somewhat involved with the article, so it would be better to let an uninvolved editor review this nomination. Gulumeemee (talk) 05:15, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
Thus on points 1 and 2 a new reviewer is not indicated.– Lionel(talk) 05:52, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Yoninah pinged my talk page to see what I thought. The question here is whether this article is eligible for DYK at all: it was created by a banned sock, which is why it was deleted, and socks are not supposed have their "serious breach of community trust" validated, such as by having articles they created featured on the main page. Billy Hathorn has a very long and inglorious record of flouting the rules of Wikipedia, and I don't think we at DYK should be encouraging this behavior by promoting his articles. It's a shame that Lionel's been caught up in this when they nominated the article in good faith, but I don't think that means this nomination should proceed. If the article was later 5× expanded or became a GA, that would be a different story; Hathorn's involvement would have been superseded. BlueMoonset (talk) 12:20, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Well... since you put it that way, I'll withdraw. I guess that's how the cookie crumbles. Now that my cookie is gone, the cookie store is here {{cookie}} and my talk page is here user talk:Lionelt. – Lionel(talk) 06:00, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
