Puankhequa

[edit]

Portrait of Puankhequa

  • Comment: First nomination for the user

Created by W.carter (talk). Nominated by Gerda Arendt (talk) at 20:23, 12 August 2014 (UTC).

  • Coming along, but there is a small problem in that he dies in 1788 and later we have "In 1806, he was in correspondence with Sir Joseph Banks ..." and "he was also included in an 1807 painting". Presumably this is Puankhequa II. Belle (talk) 00:54, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
I also wonder if the article should be at his pinyin name rather than (what I assume is) his Wade-Giles name. Belle (talk) 01:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Length ok; new enough; neutral; hook is OK, but I think if the quote from the French is about him and not his son you should use that; no obvious copyvio, plagiarism or close-paraphrasing (I'll check more closely though); picture is fine (if it is him and not his son); no QPQ needed. Once the few points raised above have been dealt with this will be ready. Belle (talk) (aka "the most evil soul ever to have inhabited a human body") 01:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, Belle! The name is often found in sources. The author sorted the dates, and I believe that this article is interesting by picture alone, - the hook can as well inform rather than be quirky (but I will listen to you, as always) ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:55, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Gerda. You may be right about the picture being hooky enough on its own, but for the sake of choice:
ALT1 ... that a French trader said that the Chinese merchant Puankhequa (pictured) was in possession of "the most evil soul ever to have inhabited a human body"? Belle (talk) 14:59, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
I have to say that ALT1 is inspired. Very hooky indeed. Excellent suggestion Belle!. Possible wording tweak to:
ALT2 ... that a French trader said of the Chinese merchant Puankhequa (pictured) that he was in possession of "the most evil soul ever to have inhabited a human body"?  Philg88 talk 18:07, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

See review above (I can't access all the sources so that's why I'm using the AGF tick). Ready with any of the hooks, though ALT2 is preferred. Use the picture or I will sulk. Belle (talk) 00:15, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

  • ALT2 is just a convoluted version of ALT1, IMO. Yoninah (talk) 23:43, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
It is just a different formulation and, since it was suggested by somebody involved with the article, I thought we'd go with it. Belle (talk) 01:00, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Still ready. Belle (talk) 01:00, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
