Peniel Chapel

[edit]
Peniel Chapel
Peniel Chapel
  • ... that the 1810 Welsh Peniel Chapel is a classical Greek style replica of the 1630 St Paul's Chapel in London (compared)?

Created by Doug Coldwell (talk). Self-nominated at 21:18, 7 April 2016 (UTC).

  • Date and length fine. AGF on book source. QPQ done, no close para. Pic licence fine, though might be good if there was an imaged that showed both of them together for comparison. Good to go. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 10:21, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Thanks for great idea for a comparison image = submitted!-Doug Coldwell (talk) 12:18, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Comment to Promoter - would be nice if this were #1 in the queue. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 12:25, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

A few problems here:

Extended content
  • ALT2 ... that the 1811 Welsh Peniel Chapel is a classical style inspired by the mid 17th-century St Paul's Church in London (compared)?
  • ALT3 ... that the 1811 Welsh Peniel Chapel is a classical style inspired by St Paul's Church of 1633 (compared)?
  • I think if you're going to use 1811, then there should be consistency with the date format so I would support ALT3. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 21:53, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Both alts have a missing word, and neither is ideal. The article also has gibberish statements ("Peniel is listed as Grade I because of its classical style for a chapel in early history"), and is inappropriately written in American English. Really Doug, you need to actually read through stuff before submitting it. Johnbod (talk) 12:52, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT4 ... that Peniel Chapel (pictured) changed the interior design concept of Welsh churches to that of a theater building and an auditorium experience? --Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
@Johnbod: If ALT4 will work, then you can strike out ALT2 and ALT3. Sell is the reference source for this hook.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
This picture shows the interior. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:40, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
You don't need my comments if you're going with that. User:The C of E can handle it. Johnbod (talk) 17:23, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT5 ... that Peniel Chapel (pictured) changed the interior architecture of Welsh churches to that of a theater building with a ramped gallery floor? --Doug Coldwell (talk) 18:38, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
@The C of E: Withdrawning ALT2 and ALT3. Would like to go with ALT4 or ALT5. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 17:53, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
Um, don't you mean it started a trend, or changed the practice? A chapel didn't change the interior of other churches, like it has a magic wand or something. EEng 07:10, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Yes, of course - that is what I meant. Thanks! @The C of E: Proposing ALT6 or ALT7 for approval. Source for hook is Reference #2 of the Welsh Religious Buildings Trust Newsletter #4. Also Jones (pp. 32-33). Also Sell (p. 181) --Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:01, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
I'm going with Alt6 as that seem more grammatically correct and I have corrected the spelling. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 13:10, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
