Osedax frankpressi

[edit]
  • ... that larvae of Osedax frankpressi that settle on a whale carcase develop into female worms while those that settle on female worms become males?
    • ALT0a ... that it appears that larvae of Osedax frankpressi that settle on a whale carcase develop into female worms while those that settle on the female worms become males?
    • ALT1:... that the worm Osedax frankpressi lives on the carcases of whales that fall to the seabed?

@Cwmhiraeth::
  • Note to promoter: I'm still new at DYK reviewing.
  • Article is long enough (2023 char of readable prose size), new enough (5x expanded on 29 Oct).
  • Article is neutral.
  • Every paragraph is referenced, doesn't seem to be any copyright violations
  • Hooks are interesting, although I'm not used to the spelling "carcase" for "carcass". I'll assume this is an acceptable spelling. I think the first hook could be slightly reworded. Its not that if O. frankpressi land on any female worm, but presumably of adult female O. frankpressi.
  • Also the source for hook one prefaces the claim with "It is thought that", so I'm not entirely sure if it's okay to remove the hedge? Source [1] also hedges it: "We hypothesize that sex may be environmentally determined in Osedax [...]."
  • Hook two has no issues.
  • QPQ done.

  • @Umimmak: I have rephrased the original hook and the article. My spellchecker does not object to "carcases". Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:41, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
  • @Cwmhiraeth: Thanks, I approve of hook ALT0a 10:20, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
