My Kind of Girl
[edit]- ... that the original version of "My Kind of Girl" came second in ITV's "A Song for Britain"?

- The hook isn't at all interesting despite the article including it in an interesting fact. Why don't you mention that it was originally announced at #1 but was actually #2?--v/r - TP 17:49, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- I couldn't find the publication date of NME, so I couldn't be certain that it was published before the program.--Launchballer 21:37, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Launchballer: Amazon, Goodreads, and Biblio all say Sept 25, 1992.--v/r - TP 21:45, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- What, the NME edition described as being "February 1961" by the book sourced in the article? Really?--Launchballer 21:56, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- My mistake, I thought you were looking for a publish date for the source.--v/r - TP 22:52, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Launchballer: Are you looking for a date for the NME article? If not, perhaps consider writing a hook about how this song was the first by a British artist to reach the American top 20 in 4 years.--v/r - TP 18:57, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that prior to Matt Monro's "My Kind of Girl", it had been three years since a British artist had cracked the US Top
4020?--Launchballer 22:22, 11 October 2016 (UTC)- @Launchballer: New hook is sufficient. This line "but didn't have the nerve to do that to Monro twice" matches nearly exactly to the source. Is it meant to be a quotation? Also, I've removed the review sourced to your own website. Do not ever do that again or it will be brought up on the admin noticeboard. I'm watching.--v/r - TP 03:51, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

- Also, I found this in one of the sources: "My kind of girl won a Ivan Novello as the most performed work of the previous twelve months". Why did you decide not to include it in the article?--v/r - TP 03:53, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Launchballer: Updates?--v/r - TP 20:59, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
- I have been snowed under with university and health problems (my mental health problems have gotten worse plus Dad's been diagnosed with cancer). I've reworded the phrase and added the Ivor Novello stuff in; it wasn't in to start with simply because I didn't see it in the source.--Launchballer 11:09, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
ALT1 approved. Did minor copyedits. Copyright checks out, hook is cited, interesting, article meets length and age requirements. NPOV and verification checks out although many sources are non-print and could not be verified. Of the sources that could be checked, there appeared a minor close paraphrasing once that was corrected. All other spot checks were good. ALT1 ready for promotion.--v/r - TP 18:08, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote ALT1, but do not see the hook fact in the article. Yoninah (talk) 22:41, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
